I recently purchased a 2015 Mustang, after a few days noticed AIRBAG LIGHT stayed on. I did a lot of research and got a lot of different answers. I tried the loose connection first, I thought I had it fixed but it continued.
I was not looking forward to spending hundreds of dollars and many hours trying to fix this problem .
Then I noticed something. When I would start the car immediately ( before the clock time displays) the AIRBAG WARNING would come on and stay on.
If I would want a few seconds, until after the time displays I get the light for a few seconds then goes out.
Now this may have been posted before and it may not fix your light problem, but it works 100% for my car. It could not hurt to give it a try if you're having trouble with AIRBAG light. I think the computer needs a few seconds to properly boot up before you start the car.
I also wait to fasten the seat belt.
Would love to hear feedback

Glad you found a workaround. I installed aftermarket seats in my 2022 Mach 1 and used a spare wiring harness and passenger seat bladder from junkyard seats to retrofit into the aftermarket seats with the 2 ohm resistor hack and the seat belt warnings and passenger occupancy detection are clearly functioning but I can't get the air bag warning light to turn off. I can't quite follow your procedure to try out, if it's not too much trouble, could you post a video clip?

So I will try to explain, I will unlock the car then get in . When I close the door the screen display( I have the base model raido w/7" screen) will display the "MUSTANG " for a few seconds then disappear then the clock time appears. Then I will start the car. If I start the car when the Mustang is on the screen or even before the AIRBAG light comes on and stays on. I can do a video tomorrow if it will help.
Now your problem may be different but won't cost you anything to try.
I was getting ready to replace things until it got fixed, just got lucky I guess. It's been 4 weeks now without issue.

Not sure if I responded in the correct place so you may have already seen this.
So I unlock the car and get in , when I close the door the raido screen comes on and displays the "MUSTANG " for a few seconds then the clock display comes on. I have the base raido with the 7" screen.
If I start the car while the mustang is on display or before the AIRBAG warning comes on and stays on. If I start the car after the clock has displayed a few seconds the AIRBAG light comes on for a few seconds then goes out.
I have not had any issues since I have been waiting a few extra seconds to stthe car. car.
Now it could be your car has a different problem but it won't cost you anything to give it a try.
I have heard about the resistance method and that is what I was going to try next. But I think I just got lucky, my job requires me to be very observant so that may have helped. I can do a video tomorrow if you need more info.

I'm wondering if you have found a way of getting the warning light to go out but you might still actually have a problem with the airbag. Maybe don't find out by accident.

👍

A work around is not a fix.

There's an old saying though.
There's nothing more permanent than a temporary "fix" that keeps working.

No one want's to even look at my air bag warning light situation because my seating system is not OEM. Supposidely, the SRS air bag system still works but I don't know how the advanced "smart" part of is affected. (My magnetic occupant position sensors are positioned fully forward on the seat track for for minumum deployment force.) My car is down for fuel pump replacement and other updates but I'll keep trying to sort out the warning light glitch once I get everything re-assembled.

If everything is right with your airbags, then the light will not stay on, regardless of when and how and how fast you start the engine. So no, it's definitely not a matter of the computer needing a bit more time to boot up properly.
My guess is, you have an airbag issue that just happens to be swept under the rug if you start the engine in a certain way.
