I'm on my second mustang and I don't recall this light being on it's obviously on the map light switch can someone confirm whether this is a fault.
Thanks in advance.
OK.....it's a "smart" airbag that senses the weight on the seat and if it's quite light (such as a small child......or a bag) it'll disable the airbag.
I suspect it'll be the sensor at fault, so a trip to the dealer I expect.............but I'd check the connections under the seat first.
Airbag fault would (or SRS system fault in general) results in a airbag light that stay lit up on the dash - it's the one that comes on during self test after ignition is turned on and comes off if everything is ok.
This has nothing to do with the fault. Passenger seat has OCS (occupant classification system) that determines if anyone is sitting in the passenger seat.
I am unfortunately very familiar with airbag fault which I persistently get from time to time and dealership can't fix.
That light is supposed to be lit without a passenger, or a light one (I think less than 60 lbs). It turns off the front, side, and curtain airbags without a passenger, to save a lot of money in repairs in case of an accident where they wouldn't protect anybody. Just check that it goes out with an adult passenger, and all would be well . Hope this helps.
