I have been looking to get a new mod in my car. I saw this Airaid MIT going for about $160, which I like. I do NOT have a tune, only a MBRP catback + AEM drop in filter. Anyone here without a tune that have the MIT installed along with a drop in filter?
Any consistent performance gains?
Any issues with it?
Anyone else thinks its a good mod or just MEH? any potential risks to the turbo?
any input would be appreciated:like:

You do not need a tune for the tube. It will help with gain if your car is tune but does not require a tune to run.

Thanks, I know that no tune is required for the MIT. Since I DO NOT plan on adding a tune any time soon, I asked if those WITHOUT a tune noticed an improvement by adding the MIT. I would rather know from those without a tune since the tune WOULD be the ONE making the most gains and deff improvement in performance.

Eventually I will also be adding a IC, will probably wait for black Friday sales. This past few weeks here in FL made me realize how much of a dog it becomes once IAT's go above 100. Otherwise on cooler nights (below 82F) and obviously during winter time this car is a BEAST, IMO...

Save for the intercooler. You aren't going to feel any seat-of-the-pants gains from the MIT and it is more of what I'd call a supporting mod than a performance mod.

On the ecoboost mustang there is very little gain to be had from any intake, but that airraid tube is a good convenience if you are later planning to go to any aftermarket stock location turbo, on stock turbo with an intercooler, good fuel and drag radials you can go 12.5 on a automatic car

The nice thing about the Airaid intakes is that you get the option to use its coupler on a stock turbo, or a 3.5 inch one for aftermarkets turbos such as drop ins etc.

OP, you should buy one. I don't have a tune. I added one with a drop in green filter and there is a big difference in drivability. The engine definitely reaches 6,500 quicker between 5,500 & 6,500. Other than the $160, there's no down side. I actually added the tube first with the Ford filter. Even in that configuration you can feel the difference. The new filter made an additional improvement.

My configuration is AT & 3.31, MSD coils, colder plugs, BOV vented, 1" TB spacer. No tune or exhaust changes. I've had my tube for about 90,000 of my 115,000 miles, spring, summer, fall and winter. Good part with no down side.

Thanks a lot for your input! good to know about its potential benefits without a tune. I plan on keeping mine tune free lol...just IC and now maybe this mod as well, since it's relatively inexpensive.

I have had the stock intake with stock filter, stock intake with drop in K&N, a complete JLT CAI (big tube like Airaid) and the Ford Performance GT350 bucket with the stock tube on my Ecoboost Mustang.

There is not enough difference in performance between any of those configurations to be felt by the butt Dyno.

You would need some serious modes before the stock air box/filter and intake tube becomes a restriction and changing to another intake or tube would make a difference.

OP get an IC first. You’ll recover lost heatsoak power back.

If you just want it, it will help as a support as others have stated.
