Now let’s hear the excuses of why I can’t or won’t change my own oil.
i can, and i have, and if i had to, i would.. in the parking lot where live, BUT the parking lot is dirty with sand, leaves, bird crap, berries from the trees, squirrel poop, etc, its not flat, its ALWAYS hot, not to mention you're underneath a hot/warm car, and the old grumpy neighbors who have nothing better to do than watch the weather channel and or stare out the window have complained a couple times as soon as the hood goes up, or jack comes out.

its just a lot less hassle all around if i take it upto the dealership and have them do it, and on the plus side, now i dont have to keep pictures and reciepts as documentation for warranty purposes... the dealer has all the paperwork for the car.

My 2 cents.. everyone here loves their ride and listening to the obvious indignation in the posts above : we really don’t like/trust dealer service departments.. and we have good reason with some of the horror stories told here!

Solution : change your own oil or at least find a neighbor/friend who will help you do it.
Invest in jacking rails, a 3 ton low profile jack and a socket set..buy your filters in bulk and Motorcraft oil when it’s on sale.

If we love our cars so much....a little TLC in the driveway or garage every 5K is just what the doctor ordered.

I can't speak for anyone else (obviously).

But my main source of indignation is that the dealer network likes to parade this facade around that they're the experts. And for what they're charging for labor rates these days, this stuff is wholly unacceptable at every level. If they can't get something as simple as an oil change done correctly, what else are they borking? It pisses off the consumer and damages the brand.

I'm too old to be lying on the ground. I don't know how I would get up. And I don't love my car that much!
If I had that much energy, my wife would find something "more important" for me to do, instead.

Exactly what I would offer as an "excuse". That's a "reason".

The OP is not someone I'd listen to: Know-it-all with little circumspection and empathy. Self-congratulating himself Me,too.

Go ahead, let's hear the excuses for dropping a turd in the punchbowl.

best option, as stated already, is to DIY. cheaper and 100% peace of mind. cant quantify that. also an enjoyment when you DIY. if you cant for whatever reason DIY, take it to a shop that you can WATCH them do it. even Ford, ask for the serv mgr and see if you can watch the oil change. or even a lube shop OR repair shop, bring your own oil/filter, and WATCH them do it.

the last option and to avoid at all costs is to drop it off, walk away and pick it up later. here's my most recent oil change:
