Good Afternoon Mustang Family,

I wanted to get an opinion as I just had a wheel alignment done but it wasn't aligned to my staggered wheel setup. My Mustang is now feeling extra stiff when turning and was curious if that could be from the alignment or would it be from the tie rod?

Here are the alignment specs.

Many factors look good with the exception of the .3 difference in camber on one side.

Did you intentionally tell the tech to overcompensate due to offsetting weight variances side to side? Did they put a weight in the car equal to you when aligning?

Cross camber is a normal thing due to driver weight and crowned roads but it should be more on the passenger side if one were to do that.

When you say aligned to your staggered wheel set up, are you saying that you use different specs when using different wheels?

Thank you for responding so quickly.

I didn't tell the tech anything when they did my alignment and I believe they aligned it to factory specs and didn't take into account of my staggered wheel set up.

What should I tell the tech when I go back this week?

Get some camber bolts up front and take some off the negative camber out to -1.5. set toe to -.03toe in In front
youwill have a nice steering street alignment.

No worries brotha. A couple questions:
  • Are you lowered?
  • Do you do any spirited driving?
  • Do you want to drive it on track?
  • Is this your daily?
  • What are your wheel specs?
  • What tire type and size are you running?
The answers to all these will help in determining what is best for your driving experience.

Whatever you do I would recommend putting a weight equal to your mass in the front then aligning it so that it is equal L to R. I do the same but I start my alignment at -3* and go down to -3.25* at times.

A base alignment will range from -1.0* to -1.75* depending on exact model of Mustang GT.

Staggered wheels should not require any specially specific specs for alignment vs a square set. All things being equal.

As long as you had the staggered wheels on when alignment was done,no issues. Just need to do something about the camber in the front. If you didn't have the staggered setup on when the alignment was done that would be a issue.

Yes my car is lowered.
No track use and it's my daily driver with spirited driving from time to time.

My wheel size are 19' in the front and 20' in the rear.

I run NITTO 555 G2s.

Please let me know if that makes a difference in alignment setup for my staggered wheels.

Ok that all seems pretty standard. I would just go back and have them revise the left front.

You say that your steering is stiff. Have you checked the clearance from wheel barrel to strut? Do you have the correct offset wheels?

That's what I was thinking of doing. What do you think the camber should be in the front?

I believe the offset is correct but I will have them check.

-2* is fine. I would just try to make it as equal as possible with driver weight in it.

I am taking my GT pp in for a front end alignment monday. I just installed a set of Nitto 555 G2 as well and the old tires are showing wear on the inside edges. I just bought the car two weeks ago so I don't know if the alignment has already been done or not. It is worth the money to have it checked. I am going to take the old tires with me so they can see what was going on.
