Adding power to get 800hp to the wheels...not possible without a ton of mods?

Sounds like a stock hellcat at 640whp. Most well tuned boosted coyotes will pull that. So I agree, start low and move up only if you feel the need.

My question would be where did the 800hp number come from? .
To be honest....history.

I look at numbers back in the 90's and into the 2000's and what cars were then and are now. I want to still be able to blow anything else on the road out of the water in 10 years or so. By then a higher end Corolla will probably be up to 300-350 at the wheels. Again, I love being able to own traffic, when there is not some lane hog in front of me intentionally blocking (or more often than not, messing with their phone).

I'm not confident that 600 at the wheels is going to be that significant/superior to even, say, a WRX or Civic-R by then. I love my car and I don't plan on trading up just because it's old. I'd rather spend the two days I do now washing/waxing, not drive it in the rain, etc...and keep it looking beautiful as well as powerful, than do this all over again with some other car in hopes of keeping up with the times.

Take my dad's 09 he just SC'd with a Roush. Bumped it up to MAYBE 400 at the wheels. My GT is probably still faster stock (although we haven't raced...yet).

So the 800 is more of a guess as to what powerful will mean in the future. And sure there are 1300hp+ cars now but those are far from the rule...more of the exception.

extrapolating, 20 years, Mustang will be over 1000 hp, all for the low low price of $35k.

What did an 09 cost new?

Accounting for inflation wouldn't the price tag be closer to $50k+/-?

Thanks

In a few years all the quickest street cars will be electric with instant torque and advanced traction control, cutting 0 to 60 times in 2 seconds on street tires.

Yeah. You're going to be outclassed by electric while you plod around in your ICE-mobile. Build your car for today, not what it will be in 10 years.

I was looking at that very concept yesterday. I was looking at the specs Tesla was putting out, even the Tesla 3. Now after adapting your fueling life-style to electric, and having ZERO clue what it's like to work on the suspension/mechanical parts of an electric car...it actually seemed somewhat attractive. Made me wonder when they were going to start coming with wings and a propulsion system as options.

I also read that some believe hydro-electric will kill electric.

But an excellent point you make nonetheless.

My 2cents, a 600whp car will 9 times out of 10 be quicker than a 800whp car on the street. Mine "only" made 754whp and it is useless even with drag radials on the street.

Just so I understand...would this apply even when hitting the gas at 60mph? Or is that specifically from a stop?

The only time I actually use any power is when I'm already going highway speeds. I've never seen a car, going 60+ that guns it and starts to spin/fishtail on warm/dry pavement.

Thanks

Lol. 800whp you will spin at 100mph with street tires. Mine kinda hooks punching it from a 70mph roll in 4th with the drag radials..

I can vouch for this. my daily setup is some PP wheels with 555 G2's..it blows them off in 3rd as long as I have the balls to hold on lol

That statistic is ridiculous lol. My car hooks perfectly at 840whp on the street. Maybe not from a dig but it's great from any roll. How many people are out here dig racing on the street?
