I actually have a bit of information this when I had a chance to connect with Brian very briefly this week.

He's working on a formulation that he's sending to Whipple directly for testing. I'm not sure if this is a different form of IV or a combination of IV and IV-P but I know he's working directly with that team.

I hope to be in touch with him today and will provide some more information as soon as I have it.
I didn't know that he had a contact at Whipple. My last conversation with Brian was about the 2 guys who tested ACES after me my friends Dave and Jay in Cali should get his new stuff and try and setup a Dyno test at Whipple. It was my understanding he was going to work the testing through us and our contacts with Whipple. Interesting to know now that Brian will be testing directly with Whipple:thumbsup:

Hi Shawn,

Confirmed. Brian is indeed working with Will at Whipple Superchargers. This is in addition to Dave testing at Whipple.

Cheers,

Andy

That is good news, with Whipple at the controls a solid method will be used to produce accurate results. I can't wait for this to get worked out.

So I feel something needs to be added in here just to clear things up. I took my car to Whipple to have some work done and they tested my car with the BND in it. With the 3.625 pulley, 91 octane and BND I was seeing 1,0,-1 degrees knock. I did not drive the 250 miles with the BND in because I had a full tank of gas with VP already in it.

Also, Shawn I think you said earlier that Will or somebody said that Dennis' engine failure was correlated with Octanium and that is inaccurate. Dennis failure was caused by ring gap in cylinder 5 being too tight from the factory. The ring gap is supposed to be big enough to allow it to expand under high power and since it was too tight it did not allow it to expand enough and the ring hit the landing, which in turn blew the piston. Had zero to do with Octanium. Just thought that should be cleared up.

This is new's to me  I have not had any contact with Brian.

To much of this going on :gossip:

Just to clarify the Whipple Calibration engineering team has a full understanding on the knock system, we of course are completely aware of the 11-14 and 15+ differences and utilize the knock system as it is designed.

So 2* positive knock is acceptable for your calibrations?

Acceptable, No. Does it happen with poor fuel quality and improper spark plug gap, definitely. This is the knock system doing its designed job.

Sounds like people are speaking for you. Can I ask you for your opinion on octanium and the orange residue it leaves behind. Should I be worried about it or not?

No need to worry about the orange residue left from Octane booster's. Has no negative affect mechanically wise on the engine we just recommend you change the spark plugs and O2 sensor's (Wide Band's) at a sooner interval then normal as the residue can make the O2's Lazy over extended continuous use with it.

Glad to read this! OK so what's a sooner interval? Every 5k miles? 10k?

So, general question, I'm shopping FI and am wondering if you guys are running Octanium and stuff like it for the competitive edge when racing or do you need more octane for some reason?

With the Pulley I have currently and 91 octane I need this additive to raise octane.

Gotcha, so you've upgraded to more boost. I just wasn't sure if it was something that's needed that they don't warn you about. I have 91 octane also, guessing I should be fine as long as I stay with the standard pulley from whatever blower I end up buying. Do you know if that's a safe assumption. Sorry I quoted you up above, was more of a question to anyone, but thanks for your reply.

im testing 93+torco right now in my car. had 12 gallons in the car and threw half a can of torco. should be 96-97 octane. my car is limited to 16 degrees of timing but im running a half-mile event in november and wanted to ensure my car didnt have any glaring hiccups with it.
