I think this is thinking from 11-14 ECUs that should not apply to the 15+ ECUs. Stock the retard rate was 1* per knock event below 3000. Above 4000 it would be 1.5* per knock event. Saying up to 2* positive knock allowed it one last chance before the transition from Knock advance mode to Knock retard mode.Whipple assured me that the normal or borderline knock logic that maximizes timing for power is in the 2 degree range. Beyond 2 is when and power is reduced significantly.
I commented on Alex's video to see what he says about it but no reply.
Again ford added an intensity axis to the table that replaced this knock retard rate table being based just on RPM. Now you don't want more than 0 knock, this will keep the system with in .5 of true borderline for the fuel you are running.
