Is this the famous ac compressor going bad noise? Only happens when driving though, ac blows cold and doesn’t happen with the ac off.

Yep. Mine has been doing this for almost two years. Only recently the AC started blowing hot, but I think it is due to the fact that I sprung a leak somewhere. My compressor still engages and whines. Haven't had time to investigate it fully. I have an ESP but dread taking it to the dealership.

My 2016 started blowing hot air. Galpin Ford in Prescott, AZ, diagnosed it as low 2 ounces of freon. Did the trick.

I could not make out the sound from the clip but my a/c compressor would cause intermittent feedback through the stereo even though the air had been blowing cold until a couple of months ago then not reliable for cold air. Finallybtooknitbtobtgecdeakef and they diagnosed a bad compressor. Now that it has been replaced, noise gone and reliably cold at all times just like expected.

I see your car is a 2020. I had hoped the issue with A/C compressors was similar to engine oil use in that later models would have whatever defect corrected. Mine was replaced under extended warranty three years ago and has been fine since. 🤞
I have seen speculation that maintaining high revs might be more prone to causing compressor issues. Wonder if that is the case though as mine was not exposed to that in any consistent way. Hopefully yours is just low on coolant.

My 2020 is on compressor #3 and HP hose #4. Normal DD.

Do you track or ring it out to red line often?
Nope. I do not. Zero track time and when I do drive aggressive I turn off the AC for the extra 26 horses. Most of my time is driving back and forth to work. Round trip about 85 miles. No winter use.

So my AC was starting to get a whining sound as well. All I did was refill the refrigerant and the sound disappeared. Some refill kits come with a gauge and thats what told me it was running low.

Maybe I’ll try that before taking it to the shop.

The oil issue was never solved. Some 2019 and 2020 GT350s had the same issue.

Lucky me. The gt350 takes r134a, which you can’t get in the little bottles in my state.
