Turn it off. I’ve never left my ac on when preparing to send it. I thought this was more common operating practice than apparently it is.
It was every time.

Hi. Are you talking about turning the AC off when your going to race? The Mustang AC compressor turns off automatically at like 80% to 100% WOT?

It does, but the instant you let off the gas it cycles back on. That’s when belts get shredded or the clutch gives up.

I agree, but I haven't seen a test showing the actual ramp on after WOT, but would imagine it is slow from what I notice from the AC. I have to keep my AC on now due to the interchiller I am installing.

Just about everyone here in our local Shelby Club has shredded their AC belt or destroyed their AC clutch when they forgot to turn it off on the track. In several cases, the shredding AC belt took the main belt with it.
Haven’t heard of the same problem with GT500 so far.
Gotta be careful in the TX heat….

BTW: It takes a while from compressor coming on to build pressure to cool the evaporator. I wouldn’t assume that time lag is due to a delay in activation.

I will buy, or fabricate a tensioner and install and go from their.

I came across something interesting on Reddit. A dude in Germany has a US-spec S550 GT and is saying he cannot get the parts he needs to fix his A/C from European dealerships, because the Euro-spec S550 GT A/C parts do not fit (e.g., the belt is too long, etc.). Do the Euro-spec Mustangs indeed have different A/C parts?
