Guys, just picked up a new 23 Mach 1 and only have about 90 miles on it, but I’m 2+ hours back to the dealer. I’m getting some slippage in track mode on the 1-2 upshift, especially if I’m turning. I’ve heard it’s a chore to check the trans oil. Can y’all enlighten me?

It’s well known that the A10 comes low on fluid from the factory in some cars. Before making the 2 hour trek back to the dealer though, give it a couple hundred miles. The A10 is a learning trans so it’s still learning how you drive and how it needs to shift based on how you drive. If it’s not any better, or worse, after 300-500 miles, it’s likely low on trans fluid.

I would not drive it in track mode with just 90 miles on the car... I would wait for at least a thousand miles if not more.

There is a learning process the car's computer does have to do before it "knows" how to shift correctly. With that said, I have not had the best luck with the 10R80 - there are some serious flaws in the stock transmission programming if you ask me.

What’s the procedure to check the fluid? I have a feeling it isn’t raise the hood and pull a dipstick.

I don’t know a ton about the procedure but it’s not easy. You have to get the trans fluid up to a certain temperature (hot) and it’s checked underneath the car. There’s a thread about the low fluid levels in here somewhere and within that there’s a link on how to check it but it’s not easy. I’ll find it and copy it here

Could I ask why? I drive pretty much exclusively in track day in and out. Always have on my other A10s.

Ask your dealership to check it.

Thank you but good Lord! I won’t be checking that on my own.

I guess a good old tube and dipstick was just too complicated for Ford, huh?
LOL yeah they don’t make it easy that’s for sure. It’s covered under warranty so you’ve got time to go through the trans learning process, it might be something as simple as that. Mine was only a quart or so low, enough to cause some harsh shifting but not detrimental to the trans long term (and least from what I was told). Had mine checked & filled at my first oil change around 2,000 miles or so.

It should’ve been a check by the dealer asked by you to make sure everything was OK. I would never pick up a car without having to dealer check the fluids.

Good point.

If it doesn’t get worse that’s likely what I’ll do.

Since you said it’s especially while turning, perhaps it’s not the trans. Maybe the diff or tires? I don’t know what your previous cars were, but doesn’t the M1 get a different diff than the GT? I thought I read that it can act different in certain situations. Same with tires, maybe different width and/or compounds so it’s catching you off guard? Just a thought.

I live in Jasper. Bought the car in Athens. 4 hour round trip.
You can take it to any Ford Dealership, but not sure what you got up your way. Definitely doesn't sound convenient.

I put mine through the paces since day one using sport+ mode. There was one time I was making a right turn up an incline in a garage and got some slippage. Outside of that its been solid.
