I've seen well over 1,500hp at the wheels.
They hold up pretty good......but at that level, a refresh from time to time is needed.
People are already modifying them by adding more clutch packs and line pressure.
They have already proven to be faster and quicker than the power glide or 400.

I saw 7th gear slip at 800whp on a mustang dyno.

some hold more, some hold less, there seems to be a few factory freaks out there holding 900whp but nothing much past that.

1433whp is the current record on a built 10R80.

There is no magic number. If you’re hard on the car. Figure on replacing the transmission. Drag racing, high horse power, etc. is gonna wipe the clutches.

For reference, the my car only had 47 easy miles before hitting the dyno. First time in 7th gear, it had clutch slip.

My car is making a little over 900 at the moment and I had to put the McLeod clutches in and circle D torque converter. I could hear my stock clutches slipping at about 750-800 hp range. To jump in on what was said above, that was power by the hour that did the complete tear down of the 10r80 on Alex Flores’ channel.

I was around 900ish or so and would sometimes see flaring in 7th gear I think.
Got a stage 2+ 10r80 from LPF in Houston. They have a car their with a built motor that ran 8.34 at 168 with the same package. Felt that would be plenty for me

^^^THIS^^^ They are like brake pads. High speeds and slamming on brakes will wear the pads quickly. Basically the same thing as our clutch discs

Ours was slipping once we went to a 3.75 pulley + E85.. Still ran a 9.36, but it was tapped. We went with Mcleod clutches + Circle D converter and it has been flawless since (& now ~ 1100hp).
