I tried searching, not sure if I'm not hitting the correct search terms or what.. I did come across a few threads that I thought would have info, but not...

So, the question is:

A-pillar removal - does anyone have any pics showing how to remove the A-pillar plastics completely?

While driving on roads where there are bumps or imperfections, I have a freaking annoying rattle coming from the passenger side A-pillar, as if something is loose behind it. If I tap the dash near it, it will make the same noise - if I hold or press on the pillar plastic and do the same, there is no noise.

So I want to remove the pillar plastic to isolate the rattle. I've seen the threads where folks have pics of the pillars already removed (no help) and those of people installing tweeters (no help) and some saying just pull off (no help).

I don't want to break, bend, snap or damage the pillar so I was wondering if there is someone who can offer just a little more info on the removal and what to expect with what lies behind the pillar (air bags?).

Thanks in advance for some additional info.

If you are near a dealer, then just go in to their parts department tomorrow. The diagram will show what holds it on and where.

Sometimes a CJ Pony video can be found. But those are hard to search too.

Hey man,

I removed the A-pillar for routing my dash cam USB cable. I wrote up a guide how to do this, so I will just quote what I wrote:

"Next, remove the A-pillar trim piece. Grab the piece at the top of the A-pillar by the window and also on the other side under the rubber weather guard, pull it down and slightly towards the interior of the car. I think there are only two clips that hold this piece (based on the picture below, I do not remember). Once those two clips pop out, do not pull the trip piece down further. There is this plastic "cable" thing attached to it and, if you have premium sound, the tweeter cable. Disconnect the plastic "cable" and the speaker cable by pressing down on the clip, and then slide the trim piece towards you since there are two hooks towards the bottom of the piece that attach to the dash."

Picture of the piece removed is here: http://i.imgur.com/8apZ8gF.jpg

Firing up this thread again. Anyone have a diagram on how to remove the A-Pillar (passenger side) on a convertible? Thanks!

It's a bitch...feels like you're going to break something. Then putting it back on I was worried about scratching the dash. Not fun.

Put 2" masking tape on dash all around A pillar it's the sacrificial layer. Don't force it back in or will break bottom clip.
