The car has about 2500 miles on it. Have you ever seen vertical lines like this on a new rotor? How did they get there? None of the other three have them. PS. I'm going in for my first service May 1.

That kinda looks like the outline of where the brake pad sat. It KINDA looks like a crack, but I can't tell. Can you run your fingernail over it and feel a crack or a bump?

I can run my fingernail over it and it still feels smooth. It's not catching.

I suspect it's just where the pad rested. I remember them being on my 2022. If you drive it, I bet they go away or move. You could mark with a sharpie (like where the pad wouldn't rub it off) where they are now.

no way that is from a pad, it extends beyond the friction area (see the red lines)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. My first service appointment is on May 1. I'm hoping it can wait that long to get checked out. BTW - I don't feel any pulsing or vibration when braking.

With that, I'd mark it with a sharpie and see if it goes away next time you drive.

You need to get that checked out ASAP. If it really is cracked the rotor can fall into pieces causing possible loss of brakes or worse.

I, too, think it looks like lines from a "pad stamp". Especially if you don't feel anything with your fingernails. Can't hurt to check, but it seems highly, highly unlikely to me that you have such an early critical failure in such a critical part in the litigious society we live in. Stranger things have happened, though...

Exactly. It looks enough like a crack in the photo to get it checked by someone who knows what he is looking at. Hell a quick stop at a midas or car-x would confirm or rule out a crack.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I emailed the dealership the photo and they said to bring it in just in case. I'm going in this Monday. I'll reply back with what they said.
Thanks again!

Better safe than sorry. Besides, if it's the outline from the brake pads, why only on one side?

I agree. I have never seen vertical lines before on a rotor. The rear rotor on the other side has one complete circular horizontal line. My last 2020 Mustang GT had the horizontal circular lines on one rotor, but FORD said it was cosmetic, and never changed it. I'll post what the verdict is on Monday.
