a few tire questions

I have a 2016 ecoboost with 18" goodyear eagles on it, the car has been driven 22,000. I drive the car hard but it has never seen the track.

Was going to get the tires rotated along with the oil change but they wouldn't do the rotation because the two rear tires were at the minimum acceptable tread depth and needed to be replaced, which wasn't done.

Are tires wearing out at around 25,000 miles common on these cars?

Should I replace just the rear tires or all of them at the same time?

What is a good tire that I should get, I want it to be able to hold up to hard handling and certainly last more than 25,000 miles.

22K? I feel blessed on my GT if I get 8-10k miles out of the rears.... especially on summer rubber. I get a little better out of all-seasons, but I have yet to find anything that gives me 20K+.

I have a lead foot.

Edit: I am referring to the years I was not running twin turbos.

you can look at the tread wear rating, but it also depends on how you drive. I would say it depends on how close the front tires are to needing to be replaced. if at half life keep them. if close to needing replaced then replace as well. good tires are relative and depend on goals, budget and tread life desire

If he rears are gone the fronts likely are not far behind replace them all at once. Every time I don't do all 4 at once I get drivability issues and always regret it.

Only on staggered setups and summer rubber. Of course, if you do burnouts, screech tires, or track-like driving on the street, they won't last long either.

Replace all 4 tires if you aren't going with the same tire again

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06, Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+, BFG G-Force Comp A/S are all great tires. Safe to drive in the winter, grip really well, will last longer than summer rubber.

Normal rule of thumb is you will go through 2 pairs of rears before you go through a pair of fronts.

RWD cars are like this

22K is good

Most guys were getting 7-10 k out of their rears.

The best I've gotten out of street tires on this car is 20k miles (Michelin Pilot Super Sports), which are quite good summer tires, and very capable in the wet.

Usually after 2 years of daily use, summer tires are hard as rocks anyway. No sense trying to get every last mile out of them at the end of their life, because you're just stretching out the worst part of the tire.

Michelin MPSS (and the replacement the MP4S) have a 30k mile warranty, so in theory, you should be able to get some money back if they don't last that long, but I don't actually personally know anyone who's tried to take advantage of the warranty.

My advice is always to do your research and get the best tire you can. Tires are the most important safety feature of a car and determine how well your car will perform when you need it. Its worth a few extra $$$ if needed to get the best. MP4S tires are very good in warm climates and also handle wet weather exceptionally well. They should be a great choice for Florida.

If you want more tire life it would be better to just go to a square set up for the street and a dedicated set up for the track.

The tires are normal setup, not staggered.

Driven in Florida, I have a lead foot, retired so don't drive in the rain much.

Fronts have 5/32" tread, the rears have 3/32" tread, supposedly new tires have 10/32" tread depth, so the fronts are half gone I guess.

That's 22,000 miles over 2 1/2 years, I could drive it even less but every time I take it out on a sunny Florida morning it just brings a smile to my face.

Somewhat need to stick to a tight budget because I blew a bunch of money on a bat crap crazy girlfriend.

tire size is 235/50/18 all away around

Guy quoted me Pirelli Pzero Nero All Season and Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 tires, both about $160 a piece

Will start doing some research

If you have a square set up and don't take the car out to the track just get a set of all season tires. Some have a warranty of 45-50k miles if you rotate the tires every 5k miles. My last set of tires were 275 and we're driven for 25k miles with life still in them but I decided to change my set up.

The PZero Nero is not a good tire imo. Had them before and they made a bunch of noise and didn't grip well. The Noble2 is a pretty good budget tire though. As with any tire, there is no free lunch. If the cost is lower, usually the grip(or something else like quality of materials, tread-wear, etc) is also lower. For cruising and the occasional spirited run, either tire would suffice.

Since you are running a square setup, you get the full warranty. Staggered setups, they usually cut the warranty in half or no warranty.

Pzero Nero came with my base GT same rims you currently have. They can't put the power down at all. I'd definitely stay away from this tire. Removed mine at 1200 miles and upgraded to PP rims/tires.
