When I picked up my GT with PP my dealer put 87 in the car. I asked her why and I was told that the engine only required 87 not 93. I checked the manual and it also said 87. What do people think?

Why would manufacturer state it in the manual? I just got her last week. Nothing from the car has indicated that something isn't right with the engine.

bbb is joking

87 is all that is required as the manual states. many run 91 or 93 for their own reasons. I personally only run 87.

The engine will accept it, but you'll have a slight dip in horsepower.

The manual also says "To provide improved performance, we recommend premium fuel"

Ok, thanks for the assistance. I only used less than half a tank so I will fill up. Any additives from auto store that I can use to clean out the bad gas other than using 93?

87 is not bad gas...lol

if you choose to use 93...just put 93 in it.

no sense in adding some octane boost additive...

Use as much of the 87 as you can before filling up if you want to avoid mixing. It's not "bad" gas.

In daily driving I can tell no difference between 87 and 93 other than cost!

My current is a 2007 V6.

I'll put in 87 for regular driving, but if I'm taking a long highway trip and I'll be going... let's say "fast" ;) during some stretches.. I'll go with 93.

With 87 I'll get a noticeable knock in 4th (auto trans) in higher RPMs.

1% horsepower loss with 87. i ran 93 till 3000 miles in when I realized I only needed 87. saw nothing go away besides 1-2 mpg, which is still more cost efficient.

but now, my lund tune should arrive today and it will require 93....i figure ill bounce between the lund tune and stock tune so I can continue to run 87 octane for daily driving

Higher octane gas only becomes an issue when approaching wide open throttle. At partial throttle the engine does not approach the maximum compression ratio and pre-ignition is not likely.
