Issue fixed. PMI which controls all modules needed to be reset and flashed. This took the limiter off

Now if I upload the tune and have the same issue occur, I know for a fact it is the tune.

Closed for now but I’ll report back if the tune creates the same issue again.

Thanks all and special shout out to Anthony at marina ford for his help as well as Zero for his help facilitating through contacts!!

So we can close this issue out.

My sct bdx completely freaked out before the holiday, set off multiple errors communicating via obd2. Would not upload any tunes to the vehicle.

Worked with sct this morning. They updated the device as well as a few recovery files they saw we’re corrupted. Completely installed the OS on the bdx.

I erased all tunes, requested a fresh tune from Lund. Uploaded to bdx. Hit an e85 station and uploaded the tune while waiting on fill-up.....took all of but 5 mins.

No issues whatsoever.

Idk if the bdx was the culprit or the tune itself, but my idle is definitely smoother......I don’t almost stall when I give it throttle in reverse (parking). It doesn’t struggle to start (or awkward exhaust note on startup), and lightly tapping the throttle easily gets momentum under 4K

Idk maybe because I was on pump gas for a few days, the butt dyno definitely sees a huge improvement, and I’m always skeptical of such evaluations. More than the initial upload of going from 91>e85. Feels like a completely different tune.

Anyone think the bdx could have such an effect or possibly I got a corrupted e85r tune???

Hey man! So believe it or not, three years later and your thread is strangely similar to what is happening to me. Same tune, tuner (Dakota from Lund), same codes (U2100 & U0122), and lastly same issue. I was swapping maps last week back to my E85R tune and then parked the car for a week and when driving it last night the car wouldn’t let me go past 80. Now I see you resolved it by resetting the PMI, was this done at the dealer? My car is bolt ons and I would really hate to have to go back to stock in order for them to fix it. Obviously I don’t have warranty so I’m just a bit curious on whether they can do what needs to be done while the car is still tuned on E85.

needed BCM reset at dealer or someone with forescan

There was a corruption uploading the tune and the BCM module controls the speed limiter apparently

hope this helps

Negative unfortunately. I’m sure you can google or YouTube how to specifically reset it; also as I recall it was some years ago it was either the BCM or the PMI I believe the s550 has 2 different modules other than the ECM. One of those modules resets the factory condition to allow speeds over 80 MPH. Reverting back to stock did not fix the issue for me. If worse comes to worse, I know you’ve already made the investment in the forescan unit, however I paid a tech I believe $50 for 10 mins of his time to reset the BCM and problem solved instantly.

To everyone else apologies I was not getting notifications that there was replies on this thread

to reiterate: the problem was the tuning device itself and the process of uploading the tune to the ECM, NOT the tune itself. I ran the e85r and ghost cam e85r Lund tune for 5 years with no issues, no revisions whatsoever before finally selling my s550 earlier this year.

With the SCT device, it’s highly recommended that you update the unit initially before loading your tune via the PC app, DO NOT chose to update via WiFi. That is where my issue began and during the tuning process, while the SCT device was updating, it set off an error and had to be reset, subsequently setting off the speed limiter in the BCM modules. No DTC codes were ever set and I was not able to diagnose via the tuning device. Also a crank and KAM reset did not fix my issue. I just noticed while logging the e85r tune that magically I could not proceed above 80 MPH even using cruise control.

hope this helps everyone else experiencing this issue.
