Anyone know anything about Geico? I ran through their online quoting engine and they came out much less than I pay now. Did the same with progressive and they were also much less. There must be a catch to these rates. The phrase "you get what you pay for" is coming to mind but I'd love to hear about experiences with Geico or Progressive with nice cars.

Why don't you guys just put it on collector car insurance?

I use my car for anything and everything. Collector car insurance has restrictions on where you can go, and basically how you can use your car.

I'd go with Progressive over Geico, just because between those 2 companies, the complaints I've seen are about Geico. Geico also uses aftermarket parts only.

Progressive seems to use OEM parts(at least for newer cars), but you should call them to double check. I didn't even bother getting a quote from Geico.

^This and I believe in MN the car needs to be 21 years old to qualify for this status. I'm sure it is different in other states of course.

I was concerned my geico quote was as teaser rate but it has hardly changed for a few renewals. Farmers ripped us off for years

If you dont drive the 350 much, you can put it under collectors insurance. I went with Grundy for the viper and it was almost the same price as Geico but with a declared value.

I've had Progressive for about 10 years. But they went up far too much for no reason and so I'm taking that as a message "we should break up".

How was your experience with them? I'm basically getting the same price from Allstate, which I'm leaning towards since I know the insurance agent, and they are local to me if I need to talk to them for any reason. Allstate also uses OEM parts.

No claim issues with them. Had some hail damage on a truck a while back, no issues.

i have geico on for my gt and gli, i pay ~650 every 6 months for my gt and ~400 for my gli (or 169 a month for both) and im 21, had USAA and was paying 255 a month and geico also gave me a quote and i thought i was dreaming but it hasnt changed yet and ive renewed it once, actually went down from 175 to 169 on my last renewal. i do get a military discount and i only have 30/60 coverage(not the best idea i know) with 200 dollar comprehensive and 1000 collision deductibles. My gt is actually only about 10 more a month than my gti was for the same coverage.

Grundy was $1070 a year for collectors insurance with $90k declared value for the Viper, would think a GT350 would cost less. Main restrictions is it cant be used as a daily, must be stored enclosed in garage. No mileage restrictions too. Im 34, have no claims, tickets, or accidents. Geico was $500/6months which is almost the same price but they would pay out KBB book value if something happened to it, which was 66k. Hell no, you cannot find a replacement for anywhere near that.

How Can I Use My Car?

Grundy wants you to enjoy your car, not keep track of mileage like some programs with limitations. Therefore, we give you unlimited miles for pleasure driving and in collector car-oriented activities. It is even OK if occasionally you drive your collector car to work to show it off to friends. However, your collector car must not be used as a daily driver. We require you and all licensed drivers in your household to have a modern car for everyday use.

When you have your car at home, it must be kept in an enclosed, secure garage when not in use. If you are away from home on extended outings your car is fully protected if you must park it outside, for example in a hotel parking lot. Grundy coverage includes Trip Interruption that reimburses you for hotel and repair costs in the event of a breakdown, and we also reimburse you for towing and labor charges up to $250. You can count on Grundy as you cruise.

That's dirt cheap, holy crap. I wonder if it's because you're in Canada, or your long driving record, or both?
cant even enjoy a sportscar there for half the year due to the weather

Grundy's is fantastic until you have a claim. They are very slow to payout (sometimes money not ready for days or weeks after you car is already done). Also they will drop you like a rock as soon as you make a claim, doesn't matter if it's a minor $4,000 front bumper paint/swap etc. You will be dropped. They don't like doing their job.

The good thing is you can do agreed upon value and also choose your body shop. That's about it. So if you have no claims yah Grundy is great.
