5th gear synchronizer bad: Fluke?

I noticed starting last week when shifting from 4th to 5th it would grind and it was hard to get 5th. Downshifting from 6th to 5th made a grinding sound every time. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they confirmed what I suspected that the 5th gear synchronizer was bad. I don't drive on the highway much and seldom use 5th at all. Is this thrany known to have issues?

seems like a fluke. 2nd gear maybe. Can you ask the dealership to take photos of the bad 5th gear sync ?

Kind of leery about asking about pictures. I took my car in yesterday morning and called this afternoon just because I was never told when to check back and they were a bit short with me. I think they thought I was expecting it to be done LOL. She told me "we're going to have to take the whole transmission apart. It will be done sometime next week." Well I kind of assumed they would have to take it apart to put in a Synchronizer.

Really kind of weird since I very seldom even use 5th. I don't drive on the highway, and in town I'll go straight from 4th to 6th if I do shift out of 4th.

They know I'm looking at an upgrade next year IF the 2018 GT500 or MACH I debut. They should be a little nicer LOL.

maybe you can call and ask to get your old parts back ? And then take your own photos for M6G.

Bad synchro in my MT82 from day one. Ford rebuilt the entire transmission. I did get to see the bad parts prior to them being sent back to Ford. The MT82 Trans is the thing I dislike most of my Mustang.

Got my pony back Friday. I can feel some difference. One, I can feel and see the sifter move slightly forward and back when I accelerate or decelerate at normal speeds. It didn't do this before?

They probably didnt tighten something up right in the shifter or transmission mount, take it back...
