After thinking about this, i think the problem here is the definition of "fast." The definition must change from location to location. I guess if you live in a 55up retirement community and had a 600rwhp 4000lb car, you probably would have one of the fastest cars in town and can tell all your buddies you can put a $100 bill on the dash and they can keep it if they can reach it.

Come to dfw/houston racing scene and tell someone you have a 600rwhp you will get responses like ,"Yeah my dad's mustang is putting down 700rwhp, it's pretty quick for what it is." or "My mom drives a cts v wagon with bolt-on's as her daily driver" or, "Bob turbo civic just put down 460whp and he now has it down to 2700lbs" or, "Yeah my grandpa just bough that new bi-turbo v12 mercedes"

So let me restate, a 15 mustang with 600rwhp is not brutal, easily manageable, and very tame car. To me, and many people I associate with, it's VERY boring to drive at that power level.

.

And if you don't think a 600rwhp can get away from someone you're naive. I've seen guys with way less power lose it.
One of my previous cars was a H/C/I/Full exhaust Z06.(10+ year member on the corvette forum, just for the record) Had over 20 years of experience with muscle/sports cars, and felt very confident in my control of the vehicle. I used to get sideways with it all the time.

One day I punched it in 3rd on the highway...I think I was going around 60 mph, and I lost it. The ass end just swung out so fast, then swung back violently the other way, and I narrowly missed an SUV and kissed the guard rail. Luckily no one was hurt and there was only very minor damage.

So yeah the more you go up in power the more chances you have of losing it, even if you think you are a great driver and have years of experience. It might even be some unseen oily spot on the road that caused it, who knows. Hazards are out there and sh*t happens. Regardless 500-600+hp cars are far from tame and have the potential to get away from you in a hurry.

Not only that but the acceleration is so quick, that everything on the road happens and closes in on you so much faster, like moves that other drivers make, etc., etc.

Disclaimer: This is in the normal, real world. Not Fatherford Land, where a mere 600rwhp is reserved for grocery-getters and soccer moms ;)

I think that any power level is manageable in the right person's hands. I haven't found a car that scares me...as long as I am driving. My mustang should be making in the upper 600rwhp range and I haven't come across many in my area that are faster. Only car that I can think of is Kelly's with BMR. But, put my car in my wife's hands, terrifying.

My son just turned 15 and got his learners permit. He has begged to drive my mustang. I said, sure at Christmas...

I think the problem is you think Houston has the fastest street cars in the nation and you've been watching too much street outlaws on TV. lol The few bozo's that appeared from Chicago on that show don't represent the real racers from our area - there are A LOT more that are here and faster. ;)

The conversation about what is boring is subjective. I think 1000hp cars are boring. I rather have a 350hp bike. That's my opinion.

Facts: In the real world where the rest of us live. There are not many daily driven cars putting down 750+ horsepower. In any area. Sure there maybe some but it's far from the norm.

Anyway, have fun be safe. At least we all like mustangs.

Being completely honest when I say that I actually feel kinda sorry for you because you are getting too spoiled too early.

You have many good years of driving left in you and are basically jumping straight into the super-fast zone and skipping all the stages in between.

When I grew up cars were sooo much slower then they are today. But I probably had more fun when I was 17-18 racing around in my little 130hp Celica GT, or my 200hp Supra in my early 20's then I do now with cars more then double that power level.

You eventually get used to a power level and then need a little more to restore the thrill.

If you start so close to the top you aren't leaving yourself much room to go from there, especially if you are not rich. And than if you fall on hard times and have to go backwards... :(

At the end of the day this is all about having fun and driving enjoyment. Or at least it should be. Going gradually is the best way to sustain that, and it also allows you to fully experience, respect and appreciate all the stages of vehicles & power from the bottom of the barrel to the top.

Oh please spare me the lame mindless "internet" cliché's. So, because I don't know him personally, that means I can't make comments based on his comments? Doesn't really make sense. His global comments were ridiculous and ignorant. And so I called him an ignoramus. Makes sense ;)

Yeah my 14 makes a little over 1300rw, and I can't wait for some new housings that are coming out in June that should levitate some back pressure and let me go to 1500rw.

With that said, I'm looking into tube chassis cars and put some of my BBF knowledge to use. These 1500-1800whp cars down here in houston make me feel way slow.

BTW, i love beating cocky bike riders:cheers::p

Fatherford couldn't even run his car at my local track - Route 66 Joilet, IL.

"Roll cage mandatory in cars running 10.99 or quicker and exceeding 135 MPH"

I'm from the Chicago area where there are plenty of fast cars and bikes. Running 10s is fast. I don't care what you're in. And as mentioned before the majority of vehicles on the road are not 10 second monsters.

And if you don't think a 600rwhp can get away from someone you're naive. I've seen guys with way less power lose it.

BTW, why are you not on the timeslip list? You should be in the fast group with low 9s since 10s aren't fast. There is a guy on youtube with a 2.9 KB running 9.1@148. Oh yeah, he's only 950rwhp. You should be able to dust this car.

This is a Whipple 2.9L and it also runs in the 8's.

Pff, weak. That's what the soccer-mom minivan's run in Houston.

Those SC's were fast 10 years ago. Way too slow now.

I'm going for rocket power.
