I don't think anyone's questioning that the A45 is fast, it's just that it's not super relevant. We don't get them in the US, but they're around $75K usd. A Mustang GT can be had here for half that. I understand that the euro model usually costs much more than it does here, but the car's capability isn't going to reflect that inflated export price. It's supposed to be an economical, fun vehicle with some character. The fact the highest tier A class can beat it in a drag race/on a track isn't particularly embarrassing. There's always a faster car out there, especially when you're spending more money. It's also somewhat unfortunate that the euro model's power figures are deflated compared to the US cars. My car made over 300kw on a dyno, bone stock with cats and everything.
We do get the CLA 45 and GLA 45 cars though. We do not get the "S" trim as far as I know

S trim is supposed to be here late 23.

4 banger 420 HP 3534 Lbs. 245 rubber. Should be equal to the Mustang.

I just speced one out. Couldn't add the S package on the web page 66K.

I also now know where Ford got the dash Idea. Hideous.

Doubt anyone here would take an A45 over a comparably price Mustang.

totally different cars I think a C63 or S-Class coupe is closer to a Mustang than an A45.

Yes. It's a hatchback and more comparable to a Focus RS.

The A250 is the same to an A45 AMG as the 5.0 is the same to a Shelby GT350 they are the same same car except they are totally not the same car.
Actually the A250 4M and A45 are not the same engine. The only thing that they share from the base engine is the block. everything else is the same. The A35 is about the same but, again the engine is a hotter version. I worked for MBUSA for 10 years and have dealt with these cars. As for the S550 Mustang. The GT and GT350 are not the same. The overall block size is the same but it has been bored to be a 5.2. Plus the addition of the flat plane crank and other internal modifications to the engine also put it in a different ballpark vs the base GT

That was my point that GT engine is not the same as the GT350 engine and not only the engine a lot is different in the car like suspension, brakes etc. This is the same for the A45 it has better brakes, suspension is 4 wheel drive etc. It's literally not the same car.

Well…for the record the 10 speed mustang zero to 62 =4.4 seconds in perfect conditions the A45 = 4 seconds …I have a 6 speed mustang automatic and no way will it run with the A45 …and that is a five litre mustang…now add in the handling straight out of the box …are you still sure you agree with your comments above …think karate expert versus a sumo wrestler
Actually the 10 speed mustang GT 0-60 is 3.9... Might be different for euro spec cars. And when you look at the quarter mile the GT beats it by a second. That A45 is a quick car no doubt, but ti cannot compare with the mid range grunt of the v8. I've put about 3 car lengths running a c43 AMG from 40mph...

Car and Driver Lightning lap: 2022 Golf R: 3:04.3, 2015 Mustang GT: 3:05.2. A 2015 Golf R went 3:12.3, not even close to a similar year GT. I doubt a regular Golf GTI is anywhere close to an R on a track. I think the Golf GTI probably feels quick since it’s lighter and has turbo torque, but driven by a competent driver on a track the GT is likely much much quicker, even though it’s big and heavy.

A 2020 CLA45 went 2:58.2 and a 2014 CLA went 3:05.9. I’m sure the 2020 probably had much superior tires to the 2015 GT. But yeah, I can believe that a newer AMG A45 would be quicker than an M6 GT pre facelift euro spec.
