Flat plane crank sounds decidedly lumpy and non-flat...

As I've found from having to address issues for others before - just cause you have it, doesn't mean you know how to use it.

A lot of mechanical failures are due to operator error.

That is a very vague video... would need to know more before I would declare it to be the engine, and then if it truly is the engine, was it Ford's fault or the operator.

When Porsche released the GT3 into the US market back in 2004 many posted these type of videos. Initial response was that the engines were fragile. It was only later that people found out that Porsche ECM recorded type 1 and type 2 over revs. Turned out that most all failures were caused by accidentally shifting from 2nd to 1st from red line. Im not saying this happened but ....

I wonder if Ford has the same data capture capabilities.

In the 1964 Movie, Viva Las Vegas, Ann Margret has a break down and Elvis gives her car a listen. His professional diagnosis, "I'll tell you what's wrong, Your motor's broken." This video is just one more example of why we need Elvis today.

So, what's the consensus??? Operator or Ford error?

If this guy was abusing his car, then I feel bad for the car and Ford... in that case, stupid is as stupid does and gets what it gets in return.

If he did all measures to treat the car as recommended and intended by Ford and then the engine failed, then he deserves a new engine.

Need more to the story... I don't care to go to the SVT site. It was posted over here so could the OP get the details and tell us here?

He already admitted to not following the correct break in procedure. Ford states 100 miles at varying speeds/no extended high rpm shifts. 1,000 miles before track duty. Pretty simple.

Either way driving it hard out the dealer lot shouldn't blow up the motor.
