Isn't the general consensus it was basically to shut people up about The Tick?
My guess is no, simply because we have not seen a direct correlation between thicker oil and tick being gone. I myself have been using 5w30 for 5 years and it still ticks away.

Swapping the oil this weekend, for no reason. Other than I was never sold on the 5w-20, in the first place. The 5w-30 was on the radar.

Glad Ford is now formally pushing the next grade, makes total sense.

I think it's simpler than that, the Mach E is offsetting enough CAFE points that they don't have to nickel and dime the rest of their fleet anymore, and the 5W30 may lead to fewer warranty claims.

I won't even look, 5w30. I have a v6 and the manual calls for 5w20. After 4years of driving it with 5w20, I decided to give 5w30 a try. The major reason that I'll stick with 5w30 is that the engine sounds smoother with exact brand and line up of the oil compared to 5w20(Pennzoil ultra platinum). With 5w20 the engine runs so clunky. I'd never go back to 5w20 and I'd never go higher than 5w30. Just enough viscosity to keep things running smoothly.

I have a 2018 Gt. At 1,000mi, I switched to QSUD 5w30 and 50-100ml Ceratec each 5k. Runs smooth and no more typewriter tick.
