Purchased in 2020. I run Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W-20. I changed oil to Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W-30 to run about 20 laps at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Tulsa during the 2021 Mid America Ford and Shelby meet. (Per owners manual to "Track Car") I did NOT change back to 5W-20. The car is only driven 1000 miles or so in the last year. I noticed a slight drop in gas mileage during the year when I occasionally drove it. That was the only detrimental effect I noted.
I'm going to change the oil before this years event. (Just because a year has gone by) Should I change back to 5W-20 and not be concerned about the 20 or so laps at Hallett? Or do I change and keep the 5W-30 and not worry about running that weight year around?

I appreciate the replies. As an old drag racer who ran Valvoline 20W-50 in my nitroused 347, i always like a little heavier oil.
That just solidifies my thoughts as well.

Thanks

Just talking out loud here,
The Coyote needs to be treated like a Japanese Super Bike motor. We’re talking bearingless overhead cams and hyvo cam chains 5 feet long. This motor needs oil delivered to the top end in milliseconds and the hyvo chains need an oil that works well at lubing between the hyvo link plates.
I’m actually an advocate of 0W-XX oils in any climate.
