I hope its more then 1 mpg difference then the 2014 Mustang. I mean if the Vette is getting 17/29/21 and the new Camaro is going to get even better, I think Ford has to come out here looking great.
I'm guessing you're referring to the 2016+ Camaro? I assume that because of my experience with the current Camaros. My buddy's 2014 2SS barely gets 15mpg around town and 22mpg highway with 91oct (and he drives like a granny). My uncle's 2014 GT gets his advertised 19mpg around town, which is impressive.

Yep the 2016 Camaro.

I can't see the GT getting 17 in the city that would be a 1 mile per gallon decrease it would have to increase by gallon at least in the 2015

I would love to see 29 even 30 mpg highway and 19 for the city or better & average combined about 22 but to be realistic I am expecting 17/27 & maybe 21 combined. I would love to see Ford blow the doors off with even better given upcoming restrictions. The higher numbers just don't seem logical given the ecoboost is looking like 33 or so but different driving styles and different environment is a major factor along with the states with stricter emissions like California. Either way it is going to be better than my truck which averages @ 15 combined

If the German Ford site is correct, then your expectations are also correct.

well
as the us figures (City and Highway) are worked out according to standardized testing methods, the european figures are also the result of a strictly defined Programm of testing to allow the comparison of the figures of different cars.
so the figure of 320gramms of co2 per kilometer published by Ford is according to a standardized testing Methode...
the figures published by Chevrolet europe / Germany are for die 2013 and 2014 v8 models (i.e. ss-models ls3 and l99 engines)
Looks like it does not matter that much, if you implant a 5.0 or a 6.2 v8 into a modern 6 Speed muscle car

I think we all understand that but the German Ford site only mentions the mustang, I referred to nothing about Chevy in my posts

Im just surprised some of you think it will lose a 1 mpg from the 2014 in the city. I just don't see how Ford could get away with that without getting massive bad press. They already took a slight hit on the weight.

The auto is rated at 18.. Manual is 15.

So are people saying here that the manual is going to get 17? Then what is their expectation for the auto.
Honestly, I have no idea. I wasn't aware the auto was rated that high. I think the manual might go up a mpg in city and auto would stay the same. I think city mileage for auto is pretty good as is.

Maybe highway will go up. I remember them saying all the engines would make MPG gains so that's why I highly doubt they'd go down a MPG in the auto/manual.

Keep in mind that the EPA tests differently than Europe.

So, the numbers from the German site should not be converted directly to English units, but rather compared to known cars with similar fuel consumption (which was mc lane's point).

Hence the comparison to the Camaro.

Personally, I think the fuel economy may increase by maybe 1 MPG, but I don't think Ford has included much new technology to improve things. GM added direct injection, variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation to the C7 Vette, and gained only a couple MPG.

Ford has the same ratios as before, but some subtle changes to the engine and aero to improve drag. I don't know how significant those engine changes will end up being, but I suspect the GT won't be much better than before.

Biggest thing you can do to improve economy is accelerate moderately and get into 6th gear as early and often as possible. Keep the revs low and the economy will be OK. Once on the highway the trick is to maintain a steady speed and keep the speeds as low as you can stomach.

Yep and cruise control helps along with obviously not as much weight (don't carry things in your car all the time you don't need for emergencies)
