I heard from others R owners that the ceramic coating on the CF rims are prone to rock scratches inside the barrel given the extremely tight space between the caliper and the barrel, especially the front. I have this on the newly delivered 2020 GT350R. See pic. So out of curiosity, have others that experienced this issue done anything to get the ceramic coating repaired? If so, what all is entailed? Is this a spray-on ceramic coating? Is this a DIY at home job? Or, does it require professional service, heat-treating, etc.? Thanks.

Why dont you take it back to the dealer and tell them that is chipping. They will be replacing it.

True - it is under full warranty. There is definitely more on the rim than just a "scratch" from a rock. I actually found a piece that looks like it peeled off. Highly doubt that is a pebble. It has 2,800 miles on it.

It could also be that the area wasn't properly prep so now the coating is failing. Is it happening to the other side?

No. Just the left side

That is definitely not a rock. See pics from my wheel. This is definitely an issue for 350's but it appears yours is the ceramic coating flaking off which would certainly be a defect and covered under warranty.

The rock scratches are much, much finer than that. That looks like a coating failure to me. I had a front wheel fail and bubble (the ceramic sits on top of a composite layer, and it's like the resin heated up and expanded on mine). I had to fight for a warranty replaced wheel but I got it. Good luck!

My OCD is killing me, seeing those silver wheel weights on black wheels. For the price of the car, you'd think Ford would splurge for black weights. Ugh...
I had all mine rebalanced with a Hunter roadforce to hide the weights behind the spokes and put black weights.

Yeah I don't like it either. I just took delivery of the car today. I will definitely change that. Looks unsightly.

I wouldn't trust any carbon fiber wheel that got nicked.
I don't consider that a "nick" or damage to the structure of the rim. Certainly appears to be part of the ceramic coating that is applied to the inside of the barrel to dampen heat. I am not an expert by any stretch, but the rims overall appear excellent. Car has 2,800 miles on it.
