I got a chunk taken out of my rear bumper in the corner where the license plate area curves into where the plate actually goes. It's about the size of a small peppercorn. I'm still weeping. Someone rammed my ass...my car's ass that is but still.

I had my wheels off to clean and apply CQuartz, and when rolling one of the fronts outside to clean it, I took my hand off of it for a split second to close the door to the shop, and it fell over face first on the gravel. Got several chips from that one, and yes...the Sharpie does hide them quite well. But still....:mad:

It's there. I had a hard time finding it too but it just looks like part of the barrel of the wheel. Once you see it, you're gonna cringe.

I've come to the following existential acceptance when it comes to my car: if I treat it too preciously I'll never truly enjoy it.

You have your first scar. Frown about this one, but smile as you acquire more.

Plastidip your wheels if it stresses you out. I did it to my Boss 302 wheels, not to protect them but because I didn't like the machined lip with the gloss spokes. I took it off after a few years of use and they were like new.

I can top that but I'm not admitting to anything out of shame.
But you can just wrap over the damage, right!? Wait... was it a CF wheel?

I gotta say, I am pretty anal with my car, I just did a 2 pass Cquartz on everything, I will install a Xpel bra, but this scratch inside the wheel beats me... Someone is more anal than I am, good to know :)

Dan in Montreal.

If you look directly under the rotor, inside the wheel barrel, there is a nice scrape.

It is not on the exterior of the wheel.

I think a rock or something got sucked up and in between the caliper and the barrel of the wheel, scraped, and fell out or was expelled.

Just an oddball thing. I am good at that.

There is enough room between the inside barrel of the wheel and the top side of the caliper to slide in a credit card. Not much. So, if something does get stuck in there while the wheel is in rotation its going to scratch.

I decided to forego the clear bra when I first got my R. Since then, I've put almost 2,000 miles on it, and each time I clean it (which is almost weekly), I find more road rash on the front of the car. I now have some substantial gouges all over the front.

Are they obvious? Somewhat. You'd have to get within a few feet to see them. Do I wish I had applied a clear bra when I first got the car? Actually, no. I don't mind having some road rash, as I plan to keep the car indefinitely and it just shows that she's not a trailer queen...although, there's nothing wrong with that :D. I just have to drive whatever I have in my garage...it's in my blood. :ford:

I can see it both ways. And, I think you have to handle the car in a way that makes you feel comfortable and allows you to enjoy it worry free.

Just my 2 cents
