the 20's come with the K brace which goes a long way to help stiffen things up. When you add that to the the 20" wheels, it feels like you have the stiffer sway bars and springs.

It is for sure not a PP car, but as close as you can get without having the 3.73 gears.
Have to get the premium to get 20's, so you end up paying $2000 more for narrower, heavier wheels, a worse limited slip, worse brakes, worse suspension....

If you are concerned about the gears, take $1000 to swap them and still save money over a premium.

The only downside is mileage but if you're buying a PP for MPG you should reconsider your decision. I only pulled 21 with 80% hiway/city, and get 17.0 in town but I redline 2-3 gears everyday, so...

225 RPM, Two Hundred and Twenty Five revs per minute....

That's the difference between 3.31's and 3.73's at 70mph in 6th gear on the highway.

I had my 2015 GT PP for 29,300 miles with 3.73's, the last 4000 with a Roush supercharger, averaging roughly 2000 miles per month for 15-months, and the 3.73's are fine for daily commuting.

The 3.73's with a manual are probably preferred since the engine is almost gutless in 6th gear (overdrive) under 2,000 rpm's, so the slight raise in revs move the engine more into a usable rev range.

As for gas mileage, you may lose 1-2 mpg at maximum, depending on the amount of hills and altitude.

EDIT - If I was buying a GT for extra long driving, say 200+ mile drives, I might want 3.31's to bring the revs and noise down a little.

Good Luck and Have Fun! :ford:

There are always going to be naysayers who are negative or opposed to clearly improved and optimized options. It just makes me chuckle when those folks rationalize not have the best breaks, the best gears, the better suspension, the more rigid bracing, the HD springs, far sharper gauge package, better water cooling, engine oil cooler and such. Yes, all that stuff according to them is not needed. HA! Any true enthusiast wants it ALL!

Hope they can talk themselves into enjoying their deficient cars.

"Brakes" not "breaks".;)

What may be best for one may not be best for someone else. That's why Ford offers these cars with many options.

Who are you to say 3.73's are the best gears?

Who are you to determine what's the best suspension?

And FYI they all come with oil coolers. At least mine did and I don't have the Performance Pack.

The premium also includes the sequential directional signals which is good for about an extra 100 H.P. Looks DYNOmite!
My base GTPP has those too. So did my Ecoboost PP. Glad I got the extra Benjamin's worth of HP!:headbang:

Only a fool wouldn't add the no brainer PP, unless they can't drive a manual. I guess that's a valid excuse.

My wife has never driven a manual. Should be entertaining teaching her in a 435HP vehicle!

I bought a non-PP because I already had a list of planned mods ready before I even bought the car. The PP would have been a waste of money as I would have eventually replaced all the PP stuff anyway. Your comment about not being able to drive a manual is a valid point though, but that wasn't my issue.

Two nights ago she tried to persuade me to get an auto. After I finished LOL'ing, she said (still lightheartedly ) she can't learn to drive stick and it scares her. I told her she needed to learn in case we were away from home and I couldn't drive it for whatever reason. Then she said "yeah but I WANT to drive it" and I'm like "whoaaaaa...what? You don't like rumbling engines or hard acceleration" LOL. I still don't think she quite knows what she's in for. And if she calls it "cute", so help me....

You must have been descending down a mountain grade with a strong tail wind! Ha ha. Good economical driving.

Just driving from Detroit to Grand Rapids. Set the cruise at 70 and zone out.

Measured at the pump when I arrived and the actual mpg was just over 26.
