You make no mention of 17" or 18" wheels.
You cannt vary from original size more than 3%.
Use this calculator inputting the original size tire and new size.
28.6 is probably more than 3% increase compared to whatever it originally came with.

According my notes, over 28.3 will probably rub the front spring perches.

I’ve sent the heck out of tires from 24.7 to 27.7 inches tall. The car drives fine, the speedometer however, will tell you lies.

I run 28.4” in rear and they fit just fine. 305/35r20. Speedo is off a little but looks and rides great.

Cant speak to the front though

The bigger question is what tires are 235 wide and 28.6” tall? By my math, that isn’t a standard tire.

That's a 4.8% increase in size to 28.63".
Beyond speedometer error it can potentially effect systems such as ABS and Stability. In post 3 above they sited spring perch rubbing st 28.3". Nothing about this size tire sounds good.

Sounds like you get your info from Costco.......

Only way to know is to try it. If your tire store won't mount and test go buy a cheap used tire in that size and find out.
Actually Tirerack, Car and Driver, just to name two of many sources more knowledgeable.

It's a CYA move. They say the same thing about pick up trucks.

You can put any size tire that you can make fit with no problems. If you know how to tune you can keep your speed o meter correct.

Are you going for the John Deere tractor look ? Or what is the intent here ?
My bet: OP is looking for a cheap 60k mile tire.

If so, time to sell the Mustang and buy a Prius. Youll get better gas mileage too.
