So currently have a steeda h pipe and borla s type axel back set up on my car. Looking to get headers soon. I know the noise will be significant but is there a brand or setup recommended to keep the noise tolerable for the neighbors for a 7am start up 5 days a week. Just trying to be respectful to them and curb my obsession at the same time.

If you want it to be tolerable in the mornings, you will need some sort of resonator in place where your h pipe is located. Coyotes without any resonators and using headers are extremely loud and raspy.

Longtime headers are expensive especially if you’re paying someone to do it and don’t provide enough gains to justify the cost.

I had to put the stock resonator and stock mufflers back on the car after headers. The rasp was way too much for me and the cold starts were god awful. Car still made close to 800hp with the stock stuff anyways. Not much if any to be gained in the mid-pipe and catback.

Cold start enrichment to heat up the cats is what's so obnoxious. if you're catless, have your tuner adjust the coldstart strategy to quiet it down. For a naturally asperated engine, headers over the stock mustang tubular manifolds offer little benifit other than being louder at WOT. Too bad you don't have active exhaust, you could go with an obnoxiously loud catless header w/full 3" aftermarket exhaust system that would rattle your neighbors windows while having the option of quiet start and quiet operation.

All headers are basically going to be the same volume. Having cats on them will make them a little quieter.

This is true, although an H-pipe will sound much deeper than an X-pipe. Catted LTHs with X and Steeda axle back is loud, while catless is “LOUD.”

We have several different LTH options on sale currently over at beefcake racing. I will say if you are trying to stay on the quieter side having the cats still will help with that.

I'm the owner of Beefcake Racing by the way. Let me know anything you need. www.beefcakeracing.com

Are you running any type of cats with this set up? I really like how mine sounds with factory headers and cats paired with the AWE touring. Im thinking about LTH but concerned of the sound. Of course with out adding the ctas would save a bunch.

I run catless LTH with the S types and the 60661 resonator. Sounds perfect in my opinion. The resonator eliminated all the rasp from the system and the cold starts sound pretty much the same as when I had stock headers with an MBRP Race catback.

Since you have the axle backs, this resonator will not drop in like it's designed to with the catback. Not sure if you can buy just the mid pipes from Borla or not.
