I’m coming to you all a humbled man. I need some input on getting the top header bolts in. I can’t for the life of me get to side 2 started and have no clue what combo of tools I need for the middle ones. The passenger side is so fucking tight! I’ve got a robust tool box and at one time last week though I was pretty mechanically inclined.
please help
Cheers

Sometimes jacking the engine up or letting it drop down makes getting at things easier.

I've never installed headers on a S550 so all I can offer is general help.

Did you remove your motor mount brackets? This will make it easier to get the bolts started by hand. From there, you will use a combination of sockets, extensions and a 13MM wrench to get to the top bolts. Some will be easier to get to than others. It’s tedious work, but just take your time and you will get it.

Remove the motor mount. Can you lower the motor onto the composite oil pan? I heard that you can but I’m not will to try it. I’ve got all the bottom bolt started just can get the tops. I really can’t see how I’m going to be able to stay the bolts. I have to take out all the head stud to drop the header. The brand that I’m installing is stainless works

Take a careful look at my header install thread which shows how I supported my motor. Use an old phonebook underneath the transmission.

Worst mistake I’ve never made on modding a vehicle. I’ve always done my own work on my cars. But this is the biggest kick in the nuts.

The offer of help comes with no strings. A couple bottles of water is payment enough.

It will help me decide if I want headers.

Put a padding on top of the engine and lay across it to reach a lot of the top bolts or nuts, I used factory studs and nuts on mine, lifting lowering rocking over the engine helps, and some scuffed knuckles and hands are a part of it lol
