I do not believe the 2022 GT500 was the last supercharged gas power mustang. There is just no way Ford silently killed it with 2022 model year coming to a end. Still money to be made on a another GT500. They will be releasing special editions like what Dodge is doing.
I certainly hope you are right (who wouldnā€™t be) but with what engine. Forget the Coyote, not enough HP. The Preditor has already been done even if they add a few extra HP. Only a current GT500 owner could tell us if that would make it worthwhile. Maybe a 5.4 with 800+ HP. Now that could be fun.

I saw an article over on 7G where Farley said the ICE Mustang could continue beyond the 7th Gen if thereā€™s consumer demand because of all the EV work Ford is doing.

But, as it pertains to the title of this thread, no 2023 GT500. Order guides are out and the 500 is not in it.

Current GT500 owners probably won`t want another gen GT500 šŸ˜€

I don`t think you will see major performance gains in the next gen GT500. Not sure why everyone expects huge performance jumps always. The next generation GT only has 20-30 more HP. I would expect a modest power bump and updated tech.

Would be nice if the darkhorse and other names were the new breed of special performance vehicles and the Shelby name was retired with the s550 šŸ˜€:sunglasses:

I agree. The level of the 500 is up there, and the cftp even more. Itā€™s getting to the level the streetability will go away. I wouldnā€™t complain if a another Shelby Gt500 didnā€™t come out, but I wouldnā€™t complain if it did either. The values for these cars will always be solid.

However the thread title is 2023 GT500. Would you agree it isn't happening?
Yes.

The GT3 related car, if it doesn't get killed off, sounds like big money, as in 150k plus. I likely won't have one but I sure hope it happens.

And newer headlights. I know im not the only one wondering why ford used headlights from 2015 on a 2020 car when the 2018+ headlights are newer. Cant wait to see the S650 GT500. I wonder if Ford will release it when the S650 debuts, or will they wait a year or two?

Thank you for the article Tob. I am happy to hear Ford is keeping it alive.

However the thread title is 2023 GT500. Would you agree it isn't happening?
Technically they would be able to race the car as is. They wouldn't need a gt3 variant. Just as Corvette raced the c7.r, c8.r etc. As time went on the engines were further from the top level z06 road going engines. With the new a z06 lending itself more to the race engine. So, I'm not getting overly excited about the article. As Epiphany stated, IF they do target that market, to do it correctly they'll be big money with even bigger markups. While I've owned many Ford vehicles, at that price point I will lean the direction of their target..especially after my 500's quality issues.

Edit: for clarification. When I say race 'as is' I am implying they can race existing models at Le Man's in a race version. Just like every other manufacturer does in GT classes.
