I just picked up my 2023 GT with performance pack and MT82, and when I got under the car I was surprised by how skinny the tires appeared.

I lowered it with Eibach springs and threw on 30mm hubcentric Eibach spacers. I am going to conservatively boost the car over the winter, likely ESS/Procharger.

As far as tire selection goes I have no idea what I am doing. Summer / performance tires are fine, this is not my daily car.

I would like to throw on much wider tires in the rear, but I don't know what that would mean for the fronts.

I want to keep the OEM performance pack wheels.

Is there a tried and true setup someone could recommend, at least size wise what I can fit and how I should stagger the front and rear?

Appreciate the help.

The PP1 wheels are 9" in front and 9.5" in the rear. You could potentially fit a 265 on the front and potentially a 285 on the rear, but shops may not want to install them. Much wider tires will not fit on the wheels you have, so if wider is your goal, you'll need to buy new wheels. If you don't want to buy new wheels, your best bet is to stay with the stock sizes and buy better tires.

The 2023 GT/PP came with Pirelli P Zero tires, where are absolutely terrible. There are other, much better summer only tires that you can use. I had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for the last 30k miles, and they were pretty great. I just went to replace them, but decided, based on advice here, to go with the Continental Extremecontact Sport 02.

Another option you can do if you're willing to buy TWO new wheels is to buy two rear 9.5" wheels and run a spacer in the front so you can go to a square setup on 275 width tires. This allows you to rotate all four tires rather than just fronts and rears.

275/35 square is a phenomenal setup!

I'm going 285/35 squared on 10" PP2 wheels for mine.

JR
That's even better! My wheels are 9.5's. Continental says that a 285/35 will fit, but I'm hesitant. I may try a set anyway. I kind of like a sidewall bulge and never do any track stuff or super aggressive driving.

If I understand correctly the 9" front wheels are 255 and the 9.5" rears are 275? Almost doesnt seem worth it to go up in the rear to 285. I bought the spacers to give it that wider look, but seems like I should have invested in better wheels altogether and skipped the spacers.

I cant really picture tire width, what size wheel would I have to go up to to fit say a 305? And is 305 too big? I know the backend can come loose easily, I am just paranoid and I guess at this point should get rid of the spacers which already seemed a little sketchy and invest in wider wheels. What would be an ideal, wider, wheel / tire combination? I ve seen chargers/challengers with ridiculously wide wheels, I am not trying to be that guy. I want something wider that bulges out a little, but is still tasteful if that makes sense.

I like the stance of my OEM wheels / tires with 30mm spacers, If I could replicate that look, but with actually wider wheels that seems the more intelligent option. My wheels only have 4500 miles on them, I imagine I could resell them for a decent amount.

This should help. For a 305 width tire, you'd want at least an 11.5" wheel, but 12" would be better. Looks are subjective, and even performance (breaking loose, as you say) is somewhat subjective. We can't really answer that unless we know what else you've done. For instance, I have Steeda rear subframe connectors, IRS bushing supports, IRS locator pins, diff bushings, and vertical links. This is the vast majority of the Steeda Stop the Hop Ultimate kit, and she's getting adjustable rear toe links before my new tires go on. Even with all that, and what are typically thought of as among the absolute best tires you can put on this car without going to a Sport Cup 2 or a dedicated track tire, I can spin the rear wheels because 450+ horsepower.

I think the best thing for you to do is to go through some of the fitment threads on here and find a setup you think looks good. Bear in mind that the wider you go, the more tramlining you're going to get. A staggered setup will help with that, but not eliminate it.

You may find that a 305 square setup is what you want for max grip. A 285/305 staggered setup might be better. Beyond that, it's calculating offsets and spacers, and I'm sure one of the reps on the forum from Velgen or a tire shop would be happy to help you figure out the best fitment.

Edit: PP1 wheels are a dime a dozen and don't sell for much. You could probably get $400-500 out of them, if you're lucky and they're perfect.

11” wheel is perfectly fine for a 305 tire and quite honestly it’s the ideal size when you look at several different tire brands/options.

Couldn't tell you. They look very nice, but they're stacked in my garage waiting for approval to get body work done on my car.

Wider wheels with the proper offset will give you the look you're after. I really like my 10" wheels with 275/40 tires on all 4 corners, and that allows for normal rotations. They are flush with the top of the wheel well. Some people run 285/35s, but the 40 series is closer to stock diameter and has less gap to the fender. If you prefer staggered sizes they're available. Check out SVE wheels. Many styles, all made to fit the S550 with no spacers.

A common fitment for these cars is 10 inch wide wheels (+35 offset) up front with 285/35 tires, and 11 inch (+50 offset) in the rear with 305/35 tires. Check out the Mustang wheels at LMR.com, Steeda, Project 6gr, etc. and you'll see similar specs.

There are lots of threads here with pics of aftermarket wheels, specs, and fitment, too.

Ive had a couple shops tell me that wont do a 305 in the front and are balking at 315 or 325 in the rear. If I can fit a 305 in the front, then maybe a 305 square setup is the way to go.

305 square on 11 inch wheels is common for road course use but probably overkill for the street. Two ways to do it. (1) Get 4 rear wheels with +50-53 offset and use extended studs and spacers up front for a rotatable setup. (2) Use wheels with less offset up front so no spacers are needed. Apex sells 19x11 and 20x11 wheels with +26 offset for that purpose.

If your keeping the pp1 wheels I'd stick with the 275/40s in the rear.
