Case in point, Rotella T6 5W-40 has for decades been a crowd favorite for the wet clutch superbike guys and also as a gas engine oil. Only recently has the gas rating and wet clutch compatible rating been removed from the Rotella bottle label.
It was always popular for some reason but those oils are not designed for high RPM like you would see in a Mustang much less a bike.

@GregO i just looked up the JASO ma spec and it must achieve an otherwise accepted gas engine standard like api SM or acea c3 in order to meet MA, which T6 does. If that’s the case then rotella T6 is just as much a gasoline engine oil as most other high performance oils.

You are correct.
Last time I looked at a newer bottle I didn’t see the JASO spec.

Are you basing this off Lake’s Hot Rod link you posted ?

basing this off sport bike forum posts from back when I rode bikes

we all still used it anyway

keep in mind there are different formulas for these oils and all that

and the big thing back then was not using "car" oil because of the clutches

What about the oil makes it unusable at high RPM?

That’s what I’m also wondering, and what defines high RPM ?
You'd have to ask Shell. 2500-3000 rpm?
Here's a screenshot of their website talking about Rotella T1 (there's T4, 5, 6... so this obviously doesn't apply to all of them), but this is probably where those claims come from

Just looked at a bottle of T1 and it carries the SL API designation.

The ford wss-m2c1 diesel oil spec used in OP’s car has a more stringent d892 foaming spec than even api SP, so no worries there.

In Spain Ford puts the Ford/Motorcraft WSS-M2C950-A, 0W-30 spec oil. It's rated for both gasoline and diesel engines, they put the same in some diesel trucks. Scary but has been working fine and it's aligned with the owner's manual we got here.
