All depends how much retooling they're going to be doing, parts delays from suppliers etc given that China supply some of the parts, and allowable working conditions at the time. Going to be interesting.

Parts supply is a good point. Re-tooling, I wouldn't expect too much as the sheet metal won't be changing......just the bumpers......although I believe those are pressed onsite.

I'm sure they'll do the analysis and the most efficient way of restarting will be undertaken. If......IF there's a requirement for any significant downtime between the '20 and '21MY cars, I suspect they'd choose to take the downtime before restarting the lines...........rather than restarting and then having to take another week's downtime in a few months time for the changeover. I'm sure there are 1000s of variables that need to be taken into consideration though :)

Just a thought... with everything going on and if this continues for some time - would they skip the 2021 refresh and continue the 2018 design untill the S650 release in 2022?
Or maybe push it all so we will get the S550 refresh in 2022 and S650 in 2023?

I highly doubt that. The 2021 refresh is also tied into the Mach-1. Too much development costs have already been made to hold all this up and limiting it be a one year model. If anything were to change because of the pandemic (which I doubt) delaying the S650 makes a better chance. But I doubt that will happen either.

I'm assuming all the prototype drivers are working from home. Perhaps the spy photographers need to drive through the neighbourhoods checking the driveways :camera::bandit::crackup:

Edit.....of course, the spy photographers will also be working from home..........so they'll need to deploy their drones!

I really hope they go back to the single pipes for the GT. The quad pipes are kind of gimmicky and it bothers me how you can see exhaust flow more out of one tip instead of evenly which eventually leads to one tip with more carbon build up.
The dual tips looks amazing to me.

I like this thread. Hope it comes to Australia. Dads boss imported original (accident damaged) in 1969 and converted it to RHD. I’m buying one if they come to Oz.

Yep, and I'm sincerely hoping it comes to the UK, too. The Bullitt has been a huge success over here so hopefully that'll give Ford UK/Australia/elsewhere the confidence to import them. It's clear the V8/nostalgia emphasis is appreciated over here :like:

I hope it comes here as well

The current situation for Bullitts in Sweden, sales are going really slow.
The first one on the list is Black one for around 47K EUR

I am thinking of giving an offer on a regular GT, 7-8 EUR under below asked price = making them to give me an offer that I cannot refuse lol :D

They’ve refreshed it in 2018... and now again 3 years later...
They ran the first group from 2015-2017, second group from 2018-2020, it would not be a far fetch for them to run the next group from 2021 to 202?. I have read the S550 is supposed to retire in 2026, 2021, 2024, and several other years, it does not seem that they have a clue when they are going to go to the new shared platform.

In terms of model years it's 2021 to 2022. The S550 is not going on beyond 2022.

In fact the "next generation" S650 has already been designed from what I hear and it's being locked in this summer.

I pretty much helped leak the timeline for the S650, thanks to my cousin at Ford, giving me an Easter egg.

The redesigned CD6 Mustang is 2027, because of the amount of investment in S650 is way too much to keep it less than 4 years. ROI is a thing.

For some weird reason I still can't understand, car companies have this weird tendency to release a face lift the same year they finish designing the next gen model. Kind of like they're tossing the baton.

Update for 2021 makes sense. Apparently the 2018 facelift was supposed to parallel the original plans, Mark Fields had for a CD6 2021 Mustang reaching design definition (before prod. in Dec '20). We all know that Hackett killed it shortly before design approval.

I think this also happened back in early 2012 with the 2013 S197s coming out when they finished designing the 2015. It's always an interesting pattern and kind of a hint to those who can piece it together.

I'm not sure that's true beyond the advanced team stages. There probably isn't a regular production development team yet, since S650 is still underway

This S650 is going to run quite awhile. I'm hearing that S750 will debut after the 15th generation F-150 goes on sale. Both these icons will be ground up all new

That's when the Ranger moves to a modular sharing architecture with F-Series in 2029 and T6 is replaced.

The replacement for the S650 is probably going to be signed off around 2024, in terms of styling times of styling buck. For now we just get a heavily revised D5, kind of like Fox to SN95.

After that the 2025 Mustang will probably be a minor refresh (like the 1996 Mustang or this 2013 S197), ahead of CD6 redesign.
when will they release 2021 mustang facelift? So many other 2021 cars are already annonced why is the 2021 mustang Gt taking so long?
