You've probably already figured this out. If not, here's what I do:

1. Take a scrap piece of cardboard, tin foil even, cut or shape the length to the drain pan and fashion into a "v" shape. This can be placed against the engine block, directly beneath the filter.

2. Before releasing the filter, take one or two old T-shirts and lay across the wiring, to pick-up anything that drips.

3. Slowly backoff the filter at first and let it run.

This has worked well for me. The cardboard can be thrown out. The T-shirts used again. Everything stays clean.

One of the Members is working on a filter funnel for us. He's got great ideas and feedback. Once he gets ramped up I'm thinking on getting one of those.

I did attempt making a trof of sorts. I have only done the oil change once myself so far. The first prototype has a lot of room for improvement.

Testify! :handsinair:

After the first oil change, I realized I needed to make a few adjustments. :giggle:

Thick aluminum foil as a guide, and punching a small hole in filter bottom to drain first has worked for me.

You're approaching three years on the car. Check the Owners Manual. It's near time to replace the brake fluid.

Previous posts have referenced $150-180 for an oil change, using full synthetic. Ford's Oil Life Monitor is on a timer, among other things. Several variables affect how quickly it counts down. The longest you'll go before it ticks down to 0% is one year. At the other extreme, frequent tracking or harsh conditions will cause it to expire much sooner. The Owner's Manual provides mileage estimates or milestones, if you'd like to follow those instead.
Brake fluid 3 years? Missed that in my manual. I am at 2 years panic, Brake fluid lasts forever.

In the 2022 Owners Manual, the reference is on Page 454.

Brake fluid, like gasoline, absorbs moisture over time, through plastic especially (see reservoir and brake lines).

Most modern vehicles have a requirement to replace the brake fluid every few years. With enough moisture present, pieces have an increased potential to rot, but more importantly, the fluid can no longer support the higher temperatures demanded of the brakes.

Going a bit over in time is not an emergency. Like any maintenance, a little variation is OK. It should still be done, to keep the brakes at their peak and support the value of the car.

Above is a thread which had some good insight, if DIY. Otherwise, any capable shop can accomplish.

Brake fluids should normally be exchanged every 2 years but higher quality ones with higher wet/dry boiling points have 3 year interval, like good old ATE 2000. I guess Mustangs use the better ones (which they should given their wild nature).

Just found out these cars hold 10 quarts, so I imagine it would cost north of $150 for a full synthetic oil change.
Not sure if DIY is an option, but I can get a full synthetic change done for under $60.
