Hey everyone! Just wanted to get some input on how much fluid changes typically run on the Mach 1. In the past, I've changed oil, trans fluid, and diff fluid on my own, but I'm at the point where I'd most likely take it to the dealership. How much have you all been paying for oil, trans (manual), and diff fluid changes? And how often do you typically do them?

My advice is to stay away from dealerships as they mostly screw things up.
Find a performance shop that has a good reputation.
Depending on if you race or how hard you drive I'd say normal driving 50k is fine on diff and trans.
I do full synthetic oil on mine every 3-4k miles, but I drive hard and hit the track once or twice a year

I've been using a dealership for twenty years because their service has been great. (Key is having a good service manager.)

How much does an oil change typically run you? And do you go full synthetic? Just found out these cars hold 10 quarts, so I imagine it would cost north of $150 for a full synthetic oil change. The previous owner was insanely meticulous with the maintenance, changed the oil every 1500 miles lol.

You're approaching three years on the car. Check the Owners Manual. It's near time to replace the brake fluid.

Previous posts have referenced $150-180 for an oil change, using full synthetic. Ford's Oil Life Monitor is on a timer, among other things. Several variables affect how quickly it counts down. The longest you'll go before it ticks down to 0% is one year. At the other extreme, frequent tracking or harsh conditions will cause it to expire much sooner. The Owner's Manual provides mileage estimates or milestones, if you'd like to follow those instead.

Yeah I'm still waiting on the car to come in actually, has just about 9500 miles on it. Strongly considering purchasing a maintenance plan with the Ford extended service plan, might be worth it in my case.

I guess two broad variables: 1) how well is the work done at the supporting dealer, 2) if you want to go above and beyond the standard maintenance schedule.

While you're crunching numbers, as @ChitownStang mentioned, check out some local speed shops. For oil changes, you could bring your preferred oil and filter, then pay them their labor rate. Brake fluid, same. They might also have some recommendations as to what they see their other customers doing. The Ford Pass App will let you upload any maintenance you do on your own.

Some owners do have a great relationship with the Service Advisor and their dealer. Unfortunately, this type of work is often given to the newer and less experienced employees.

Yeah there’s actually a performance shop near me that I completely forgot about until now, used to take my WRX there years ago when I still had one and they work on all kinds of cars. I might ask them what their labor prices are, and just go that route. Thanks!

Good, local shop is great.
I bought a service policy from the dealer that lowers the cost of oil changes. (I always use full synthetic.) Otherwise, yeah, north of $150 each.

At 9500 miles, you are no where near needing to replace transmission or diff fluid.

Yeah don't go to dealer unless you know the mechanics at the dealer. Good service advisor means nothing they write up the ticket and any random tech gets it. Ask me how I know, I worked at Ford Lube and heavy line department at one point.

BTW I took my Mach 1 to the dealer first oil change since it was free. I knew it was a mistake, it was confirmed when my oil filter was left loose when I changed my own oil for the second oil change.

Just follow your recommended maintenance schedule provided by Ford. Also the recommended Synthetic blend motor oil is great. Never had issues, this is my second coyote(First one went to flawless 130K miles). I am changing mine every 6K but I drive mine daily, if you don't drive it enough follow the time interval given which should align with your oil life monitor.

I agree, then again it just might be a Chicago thing.
I usually do my own work but I was out of country and had my dad take my expy and mach 1 for oil changes. I requested full synthetic in both along with motorcraft filter. When I got back the dealer used synthetic blend and generic filters.
I called and they said it was a computer mistake, I then asked about filters and they said they were motorcraft. When I sent him pics of generic filters he said it was their mistake and they refunded me for both cars but it was my last trip to dealer.
Now my 12 year old and I service them, he does oil and plugs with no issues.

I started doing my own maintenance after several bad experiences. I wish the oil filter was in a better location. Hard to not make a mess with the wire harness right under the filter. :(

If you beat on it (I suspect the OP doesn't fall into that category), the Torsen diff can be as low as 500 miles ... 😲

At 2.5k (enthusiastic road use) my magnets were full of gunk, but that's on a tracloc (clutch) diff, so not directly comparable the Torsen :like:

You've probably already figured this out. If not, here's what I do:

1. Take a scrap piece of cardboard, tin foil even, cut or shape the length to the drain pan and fashion into a "v" shape. This can be placed against the engine block, directly beneath the filter.

2. Before releasing the filter, take one or two old T-shirts and lay across the wiring, to pick-up anything that drips.

3. Slowly backoff the filter at first and let it run.

This has worked well for me. The cardboard can be thrown out. The T-shirts used again. Everything stays clean.

One of the Members is working on a filter funnel for us. He's got great ideas and feedback. Once he gets ramped up I'm thinking on getting one of those.
