Watch out for the copper studs they put at the corners of jeans pockets. These are likely what did the damage. Move the seat back and avoid contacting the bolster when you get in/out. Glad they are going to fix it. My guess is they will have an upholstery shop remove and replace that section. You may end up with a better quality material.
The weird thing is I dont wear jeans. Im semi casual dress pants and a polo shirt, a suit(if I’m going to the office) or usually gym short if I’m heading to the gym. I never carry my keys in my pocket, I usually put them them in the cup holder before I get in.

Could be a defect in the vinyl then.

Ever had the car serviced? That looks like something in the back pocket did the damage, wrench, pliers or even a comb. The seat fabric in the premium cars are as fragile as the paint.

The seat cover is not "coming apart like paper" as stated by the OP, the vinyl was damaged when something rough was rubbed against it hard whether he wants to accept it or not. That damage is not occurring from the inside out and is not Ford or the dealer's responsibility to repair.
I don't believe that is leather. The specs on the car info I have seen says "Leather Insert" which means the center parts are leather, not everything else.
Correct, those are tears and abrasions in the vinyl portions of the seat cover.
There's not one bit of real leather in any Mustang.
Not really correct, the centers of the front seats would be considered a split grain leather with man made grain for the surface texture but still came from a cow.
Very true! I used to work at a place that sold true, uncorrected leather on high end furniture. We constantly had to explain that the "defect" the consumer called out was from a barbwire scar or pit marks from ticks and that was part of the natural character. Most consumers found they really wanted corrected grain and split leathers with patterns pressed in to be uniform and visually appealing...
Exactly, most consumer leather goods are made from split grain leather that has man made grain for the surface texture. I'm not sure that any auto manufacturer uses full grain leather in OEM applications. My furniture is full grain leather with all the natural surface imperfections. The usually use the computer controlled scanner/cutter to limit the appearance of imperfections and optimize the number of pieces cut from each hide but that is more difficult when talking about a large couch.

You say all that.. to make it seem like I want a handout, I’ll be the first to admit if I made a mistake and I’ll pay for the repairs out of my own pocket.

However the service center also agreed with after their assessment concluded that something Is wrong with the seat which includes the leather, stitching and airbag an ordered a replacement.

Here’s the GSB for Ford leather, what is in the doc is what Ford will or will not cover for warranty repairs.

After looking at the OP's pictures and those on the TSB I cannot image Ford paying for replacement covers. But you never know.

Never mind.......:lipssealed:

As it should be! I had 2 Mercedes one a 2000 that I sold in 2019 and a 2013 that I traded on my MACh1. Both had Mercedes Benz leather seats and both wore in the same spot as your seat did. I don't carry a wallet or keys and both cars over time looked like yours. The 2000 had 3 drivers seats replaced and the 2013 had one. All on Mercedes dime....no questions asked.
My wife's 1999 with MBTex (fake leather) seats still look like brand new! Glad they replaced....but get ready to do it again! That part of the seat takes a beating getting in and out!
