when and if production resumes on may 18, I would hope that these would be for sold ordered cars and not be for dealer lots. Lets get those unfilled orders from July delivered. This is an embarrassment. I remain unscheduled/material hold sd of today. Have changed my color three times now. Too much time to think about it. Went now with velocity blue. Wanted white stripes but did not want to run risk further of prolonging any chance of delivery this model year. What really rankles me is I passed on at least 2 of comparable price and low ADM on the lot.
I have never understood why they don't build vehicles that are sold before building vehicles for dealer stock. You would think they want to get the customers money and take them out of the market so they don't change their mind and go buy another brand. I would think they would be much better off building high priced GT500's that are sold and get their money immediately, than dealer stock mustangs that may sit on dealer lots for 6 months or more. Correct me if I'm wrong.

"I" don't think you are wrong, I agree with your view. Ford wants cars like this sitting in dealer showrooms to attract customers to the dealer. Believe it or not, there is a good percentage of people that end up buying other vehicles, after being drawn in by high profile vehicles.

Well, I'm glad they didn't ask me to let mine sit in the showroom for a few days, Jaime. <chuckling> Then again, I think they knew the answer.
Even if they wrapped a velvet rope around the car, i wouldn't want it on the showroom floor.

When I was signing the deal on my first 350 (and I mean just signed the final papers), there was a guy and girl in the showroom. He opened the door for her and she started to get in. I yelled out "get those people away from my car"! A nearby salesman hussled over there and ushered them away explaining that the car is sold.

Me, my wife, my salesman, the GM (who just approved the deal) were all laughing our asses off.

Oh, ain’t no way I would leave my car in the showroom either. I’m saying Ford wants to build cars for dealer stock maybe as much as they want customer orders.

Barring any more extensions, I think production will probably start on May 26th. This is a guess on my part, but I am feeling pretty comfortable with it.

I ordered from a small dealer as well freedom in July. They had an allocation and took a healthy deposit...I had a copy of a priority 10 order given to Ford. They had a form from Ford I had to sign saying it was a customer order and gave Ford all my contact info. I am sure client orders from large dealers followed the same protocols. I never saw anything from Ford about you are low on the totem pole because you went to a small dealer...the dealer didn’t say anything about it either. I have a receipt from Ford acknowledging the order....so what gives. Why do we have to wait a year for our vehicles while other order in December and receive cars in February .? This leave an extremely bad taste with me and will be very hesitant about buying another Ford product in the future.

What gives you that impression? Im just curious. And do you think Ford has taken that date into consideration with the estimated build dates they are giving people today? Thanks Earl

If Ford was not able to get enough volunteers to go in for safety updates before the lock down was lifted, they would have to wait until the end date at the time, May 15th, to be able to call back the people needed for the safety updates and probable wouldn't be able to start production until May 26th.
That should give them enough time to accomplish the task.

I think that Ford continuously updates their production dates and takes into account several variables. They have to plan for the best and adapt to other circumstances.

It looks like the MI governor may have extended the date. I don't know how this affects the auto industry.

"Republican lawmakers believe the governor needed her declared state of emergency extended by the Legislature on Thursday, which didn't happen. So GOP lawmakers believe the emergency declaration, which allows Whitmer to take unilateral actions, expired Friday. But Whitmer issued new orders, which she believes extend the emergency through May 28".

From CBS News:
The state of emergency gives Whitmer the authority to issue executive orders related to coronavirus, such as a stay-at-home order which is in effect until May 15. On Thursday night, Whitmer also signed an executive order keeping bars, gyms, casinos and theaters closed and only allowing restaurants to do delivery or takeout service through May 28.

My build date is still holding at 5/20. Just talked to Noah over chat. As of right now it looks they are still working towards that date.

For what it is worth as this comes from a salesman at my dealership (who apparently "checked with somebody higher up")--,all cars in order bank with a valid allocation will be built this model year. So if you don"t have a VIN yet there still may be hope. Unfortunately for us up here in the North we might have little chance to drive it before it is time to put them away until Spring
