Just humor me on this ladies and gents. In reading the road test specs on the 2019 GT350, you notice that the newer model is quicker in most metrics across the board. Break in would be 1000 miles so no Dynos yet I assume. Interested to see if they are making more power. The R is quicker due to the shorter sidewall of the tires and lighter weight but the 2019 models are about 10-15 pounds heavier with no other changes. What do you think?

Most of what I see is attributed to the new Sport Cup 2 tires.

The tire necessitated a whole bunch of suspension changes. To say all the improvements are the tires only is short sighted

A good test would to have been to place a new set of 2018 tires on a 2019 GT350 and compare the test results of the '19 with the Cup2 tires... is it all tires now, or the tires and the tweeks?
Otherwise, were just guessing.

Just wanted to start a healthy discussion for the holidays. The handling characteristics are significantly better than the previous years so I can see the suspension and tires determining those outcomes.

I've run new 305/35/19 pss's square AND the oem '19 cup 2's on my car on track and while i'm still getting used to the car the cup 2's gave me an extra .44 seconds at Gingerman.... I left a lot on the table with both sets though with a best time of 1:41.82 on the cup 2's.... NOT back to back on same day, but similar conditions within 12 days of each other... the tires IMO are 90% of the gains UNLESS you count the camber plates as part of the variance, but I had those on for both days with same camber both days so take that however you want lol

(i also had a full day on the pss, and only 2.5 sessions on the cup 2's. so still working on finding the limit on them!)

Mustang chief engineer Carl Widmann talks about it in this video.
The first 30 minutes are about the 2019 GT350 and 2020 GT500.
The other guys logic is correct though. Eliminate the variation in tires to become a controlled variable. you now have a way to see if the new aero and spring rates make enough of a difference in lap times. Tires are one of the quickest and easiest ways to make cars better on a track.

Exactly my point, thanks... but I wasn't about to debate the in-depth counter-point of "Wrong".

MPSS to PSC2 is an easy 2-4 seconds on a track 2 miles and less has been my experience.
