2019 GT new tires suggestions

2019 convertible GT - tires still have good tread (20,400 miles) but have dry rotted over the years. I’m leaving NJ (thank god) and heading to NC so more interested in summer tires than all season.

255/40 ZR 19

original tires are Michelin Pilot Sport

looking for recommendations for replacements.

also, anyone in north NJ looking for snow tires in the above size reach out to I’m going to list these sale. Like 300 miles on them and garage kept.

continental DWS for me. predictable, good, and not crazy expensive. you can probably get stickier tires but i like these for their versatility and predictability.

Go to Tire Rack and peruse the most recent summer tire testing results. The Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02s and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 are the class kings along with the new Kumho Ecsta Sport S variant, with the Michelin PS4 right there as well, albeit for extra $$$ and ready for an update.

just put on some Nitto 555s, the car is planted...such great grip. I'm in Conway, SC...summer tires all the way. they even performed fine in the deluge we had yesterday on my way home from work

I would avoid summer tires unless it never gets below 40 degrees where you are going. If you are going to store the car in cold weather it doesn't matter. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with Conti DWS for year-round use.

This is a bit excessive. The newer summer tires still state they’re not recommended below 40F but the Continental ECs, Michelin PSS/PS4S, Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5/6 etc. are all safe if driven responsibly down to freezing and slightly below.

We get into the 20s/30s here in CenTX and I actually ran my best Dragy 60ft time in 39F on Continental EC Sports in my SS Sedan. 1.90. Leave TCS and SC Nannies on. Also, if it’s below 35F and precip, park it lol.

I've taken mp4s and indy 500s down in the mid 20s without issues. I wouldnt go hooning until they are warm but regular commuting in traffic is easy. Half way through my commute they are hot enough to mess around.

I have ran PS4S Michelin and Conti ECS 02 both. Currently on ECS02. They are fantastic. I haven't driven the Conti in cold yet, but regularly drove the PS4S in 40 and below weather when it was dry, just had to be a little more careful.
