2019 GT Manual 6-speed question

I'm starting to look for a 2019 since I can't get a good enough deal on a leftover 2018 to make up for the fact that it's already one year old. The only difference (that I'm aware of) between the two is the rev-match feature on the 2019. I don't want to use this feature. How do you turn it off? Does it stay off, or do you have to do it every time you start the car?

It can be turned off, though I'm not sure if it stays off when you restart the vehicle.

Do you know for sure that you don't want to use it? I ask because I've seen two people post here saying that they thought they wouldn't be a fan, but have enjoyed it to the point that they wouldn't even think of disabling it.

Yes, I know for sure that I don't want it. I've had cars with it, and I prefer to do my own H&T.

I know it can be turned off, my question is how.

It’s easy from the dash by selecting RevMatch and up checking it as I recall.
I too turned mine off as I am used to matching my own damn revs.

I've seen some '18s with pretty big discounts, 8K plus on higer MSRP. That being said color selection is very limited and good luck finding magnaride and active exhaust. There are a couple out there, but not many. The most common "left over" color seems to be Kona, so if that's what you want they are out there.

try kendall ford, corwin ford or lithia ford here in the boise valley in Idaho. this is truck country and each dealer has 2018 cars left on lot, I know I saw some magna ride cars at kendall check out there website let me know if I can help you they are a block away from my deli and I have no problem driving down there and snappin some pics for ya

Does the 2018 have rev match? I am not sure what it is or how it works. I know that when I shift mine, the rev's drop very nicely and I easily blend the next gear. It is one of the main reasons I like the car so much and bought the car. By comparison my 2016 WRX had a very bad rev hang. From first to second the rev's would hang for a second or two and not drop. You had to precisely time and wait for the rev's to drop before you could engage the clutch or the car would buck. It took lots of practice and was frustrating at times. The higher you revved out first, the longer the rev hang would be. It was one of the main reasons I traded in the car.

I think the GT has the nicest shifting and blending of the gears of almost any car I have driven/owned.

Rev matching is for when you are downshifting, not upshifting
Every time you do a "lift-foot" upshift to let the revs drop back to what the next gear needs, you're doing a rev match. Just that it's not an active rev match being done for you, and because you're just letting the revs drop you're not thinking in terms of "rev match".

Rev hang is an emissions-related thing that can get in the way of smooth upshifts if it's bad enough.

The active rev match on the 2018 Camaro claims to work on both downshifts and upshifts, is disabled if you manually kick the throttle to do the downshift rev matching yourself, and must be consciously activated with each new ignition cycle (IOW, the default is "off"). I would expect the Mustang's version to work in much the same fashion.

I don't think I have ever considered it rev matching when upshifting, just the normal operation of how the engine drops its revs due to throttle position.

I always only considered rev matching in what you described as active rev matching.

And I agree rev hang is something else entirely,
