Trying to understand what the current version from Whipple is for a Stage 2, 3.875" pulley, auto. Have asked them but have not been given a definitive answer. I just get a different tune. The latest I received was referred to as 2_3. On this tune the filename format is different than the previous ones.

I am getting a little nervous since now I have a total of 4 tunes from them and the first one flat did not work. Restricted the RPM to around 4250 RPM. The second which I have been running has great streetability. For daily driving 8.5 out of 10. However, keeps pulling throttle at WOT with good fuel and timing.

Got a third one but due to weather have not tried it. Today got another when I asked if they had a User Information Doc for the tune. Like red line, max MPH, shift points, at each mode, etc. Instead I got another tune.

For stage 2 auto what tunes revision are being run if know?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Mine is 2-2 and I received it 10/26. Sounds like you have the latest in hand. I hear this one is good for 9’s with no other mods except tires.

Thanks! That is interesting as I did not get any indication of a version on the first three tunes....

Hope to give it a try over the next couple of days.

Really ? Shoot. I wish I had been a little patient .
I went 10.2@138 running a 3.625 pulley with the 2-0 version on 10/21.

The last update (2-2) I got was on 10/27 but I had already installed the ID1050’s and started logging the PBD tune so never tried it (all the tracks were closed at the end of October anyway ).

Funny thing is the 93 PBD tune only had 16* (and some knock )vs up to 19 I saw with the whipple tune with no knock .
The “octanium” and straight MS109 tunes both have 21-22* of timing when I run a can of octanium added to 98.- fuel looks good with the jMS BAP and I am sure will run 9’s .
I just ran out the last of the race gas I had in the car and just filled up with my “supply “ of “ good” E85 that test at E86. We got a spell of 50 degree weather so going to get some street logs . If they look good car is scheduled for dyno on Monday .
I plan to do back to back pulls to compare the E85 and MS109 tunes. I suspect they will make similar power but the fuel may be on the “ edge “ with the E85 .
If it’s too close I may just run the race gas tune/MS109 at the track . The BAP may even support dropping a pulley size with MS109(no way with E85 )
I was trying to avoid a return a fuel system but if it’s too close with the BAP that may be the only way to safely run E85 .

Does Whipple give you a tune for e 85 or is it just 93 octane?

olaosunt,

Do you have the full kit or the competition kit?

I started off with the full stage 2 kit . I swapped the 3.875 for a 3.625 pulley and went 10.2@ 138 with the whipple 2-0 revision tune (2-3 is the latest revision ) .
Tracks had closed by the time I got the 2-2 update.
I have since switched to a PBD with ID1050x’s and a JMS BAP .

You were able to pulley down that much with whipples 93 octane tune and without the jms boost a pump?

Yup
Fuel looked good as far as I could tell per Lambda /STFT. I also sent all my logs to whipple and they said it was all good .

I would add a can of octanium/boostane to 5 gallons of 93 when I was racing (I got the same timing with adding to 98 or Ms109)

I am running a ProCharger but the fuel system should work the same. DW400 pump, bap, and id1050x injectors on e85.

I got some street logs this weekend and fuel looked good.
Temps were on the mid 50's but I got some 6th gear pulls up to 7200(130 MPH) and did not end up in jail.LOL
Will be getting on the dyno tomorrow to get pulls up to 7800.
Will try 7th and hope it does not slip,

When you switched from the 3.8 to the 3.6 pulley did you have to switch tunes with the tomahawk device or was it the same tune? Curious how it works with switching pulleys and what needs to be done on the tuning side with the tomahawk when you switch pulleys.

With the Whipple tune, as long as you have enough octane you can change pulley sizes and not re-tune the car.
