Their'site another solution called eliminate EGR :headbonk:
Helps, but you still get fuel vapor that cokes on the intake valve because they're open past BDC.

Haha......I saw the F150 article and was thinking it's high time we had some decent '18MY Mustang spy shots, as the '18MY F150 has been spotted loads :D

Ford is holding the refresh cards very close to their chest.

All we know is that the 10 speed will be on some trim of 2018 Mustang, and that the Coyote is getting DI.

Beyond that...it's anyones guess..

Really? You still think the 6-speed will feature in some?

I know the F150 only has the 10-speed for the 3.5 Ecoboost (for now), but I was hoping they'd have ramped up production sufficiently to support the 10-speed in all the '18 Mustangs :(

Well the reason I say that is it's listed in the 2018 shop software info. The reason why I am not making a call that it's wholesale replacing the A6 is because the A6 was *also* listed.

It might be a phased introduction...1/2 in 2018 and the other half in 2019

That might also explain the screen shot stating the 10-speed auto was "US Market Only" :(

I'd hoped the 6-speed was listed as a replacement/warranty unit

Well like I said Audi did that with the new S3...USA is still getting the previous year 6 speed while Europe/rest of world get the 7 speed.

Wouldn't surprise me to see them hold off a year till they can make sure they have enough production. Also...not sure if there are any type of regulations/requirements for it to pass EU inspection, etc?

Might it be possible that, for 2018, the 10-speed is only available for the new GT500? I assume that will be North America only like the GT350.

F-150 sales #'s are astronomical, so they have to limit it.

F series.... 66,000 vehicles per month (all autos)
vs
Mustang... <10,000 vehicles per month (split with probably 1/2 manual, 1/2 auto)

If they wanted to introduce it to the mustang, 5k-6k + more a month would be a drop in the bucket compared to the 25k+ they're putting in F150's.

Did I miss something that confirmed that? I thought DI wasn't a sure bet yet. If they do end up doing DI without PI also to clean the valves I guess I'll be keeping my 2016 for a long time or moving on to the Voodoo eventually, unless it gets DI too...

I haven't heard DI confirmed for coyotes, either. However, if they do introduce it I bet they'll have port injection as well. I read an article on Jalopnik a while back with details on the next gen ecoboost twin-turbo V6 truck engine. It's going to feature port injection in addition to DI. If they're doing that on the V6 then I don't see why they wouldn't do that on a refreshed coyote (and I would imagine on next-gen ecoboost I4's as well).

And while they're at it, if they're going to refresh the coyote it would probably be a good idea to introduce cylinder deactivation for highway cruising (probably with an option to turn it off for people who are allergic to those sorts of things).
