2018 Mustang Refresh (Prototype) First Look!

I hope I'm wrong but I'd bet Detroit in January. The 2015 Mustang was unveiled in early December of 2013. I don't really see Ford moving it earlier to November for the 2018. I'd bet they move it later to January plus Detroit has more Mustang significance than LA.

That's true, although the S550 launch was pretty unique, being held live in 5 locations across the globe (New York, LA, Shanghai, Barcelona & Sydney).

The '13MY debuted at LA.

However, right now, it's anyone's guess

Saw one at the SEMA garage in 2015 in California. Aftermarket suppliers get to go there and measure and test components for aftermarket complete with an EPA approved lab.

Maybe it's just in my personal experience, but you see way more Mustangs in LA than you do in Detroit. I think Ford's big news for Detroit this year will be Ranger and Bronco concepts. Trucks are hot right now after all. Maybe they'll surprise us with a GT500 or special edition like the Mach 1 or Bullitt but I don't think it'll be the focus of the show. Still better than this past January's show though, showing the Fusion refresh and spending the rest of the time talking about FordPass and ride sharing was a snoozefest for enthusiasts, especially after the Ford GT, Raptor and GT350R reveal the year before.

Thats not a ranger that is an escape with a bed! If it aint rwd it aint worth 2 cents as a "truck" bring back the old ranger with the diesel it would be 50mpg and put all others to shame.:frusty:

I've been debating whether to go to Detroit 2017 or not, but if there's a good chance they'll show an SE at NY instead then maybe I'll skip Detroit and do NY instead.

I would have thought Ford would be flying you 1st Class to all of the big shows, by now, Matt!

:lol: I wish! Maybe one day. I still can't even get invites to press launches while cooking and lifestyle bloggers with 2,000 followers do... :headbonk: There's a whole rant ready to go in there but I'll refrain and stay on topic. :ford:

In other 2018 speculation, I wonder if this month's sales numbers will motivate Ford to release a 2018 teaser this week to draw attention away from the Camaro. Not that Ford's nervous or anything, but a little rebuttal to the sales numbers with a vague but exciting pic would be cool.

An early teaser would be cool, but we're still 8 weeks away from the start of the LA Show.....so I still reckon a minimum of 7 weeks from our first teaser, and that's if the '18MY is launched there

And if it's not launched there, I'm gonna be like the Grinch at Christmas as I'm going to want it to be over and done with as quickly as possible

Yeah you're right. With the Paris Motor Show just wrapping a couple days ago I'm sure it'll be a few weeks before any manufacturers start teasing anything. I'm just a dreamer.
