Let's keep pushing for an Ecoboost V8 because that is what all those special edition Raptors, Broncos, Lightnings and such will need.

The only thing missing from Ford's engine lineup is an Ecoboost V8. They need an Evoboost V8 first before they can go Twin or BiTurbo.

Wasn't there a specialist on the GT500 thread stating a Twin Turbo won't fit? A Parallel Twin Turbo that is...

If 800hp is the target, ask yourself what are Fords options?

A TT3.5? Just a little short... A SC 5.0? Not enough. SC CPC 5.2? Still, not enough and emissions. A parallel Twin Turbo won't fit and a single Twin scroll won't make over 750 without more displacement.


It has to be using either TWO separate turbos, a single Compound/Sequential Turbo or a large displacement, supercharged Coyote. Only way for OEM 750-800hp to be made.


Just as AMG and Audi have successfully engineered a new, Hot V BiTurbo setup, Ford will follow. I don't really think they need 800hp to destroy the Camaro. It's the Hellcat that they contend with on that measurement.


808hp from a Hot V BiTurbo. Has to be a reason they now have an A10 that can handle 800tq.

I was told today...by what I consider a good source the 18 GT500 will be a 4.2 Twin turbo.

I have thought for years that a 4.0L FI engine would eventually show up... we'll see.

Simply can't wait for the 2018 !! Bang&Olufsen high end quality sound system and a better high end all soft touch interior with premium materials. A better tighter steering response with better feedback. Would like to see brighter daytime running light gills, they seem dim compared to other car's white LED DRL's. No more panel gaps !!!!!

Interesting engine lineup, but I think this updates are substantial for a mid-cycle facelift. This lineup is more realistic for the S650, but who knows? Everything it's possible. My take is that the 3.7 will still be offered as the entry level Stang (has more power than the entry level Camaro) The EB will get an increase of about 30 to 40 horsepower and the GT will yield at least 450 HP and some 20 ft-lbs of extra torque.

You don't realize how big the Mustang is until you see it nose to nose with other cars. I am considering a 428i and just happened to pull up at the gym and see one parked out where I usually park. So I pulled in where I could get a couple photos. The Mustang is a really big car. It dwarfs my friends C class Mercedes and as you can see, the hood height is much higher than the BMW, Mercedes, or even the Camaro that was parked next to me tonight. Styling-wise, it's unusual for a car this big to still look low and sleek. Aston does it with the DB9 but even that car has a lower hood and grill.

I hate to break it to you but you either took that photo with a bad lense or you deliberately photoshopped the mustang, stretching it out.

It's badly distorted, starting with the oval stretched rear wherl that's far different in shape and size from the front. The squished stance compared to the actual car dimension, and the background is also distorted.

I can forgive a bad lense. But I seriously hope you didn't do that on purpose to make your point. It's quite disengenuous.

2018 Mustang Bullitt Rumors and Release Date

A huge change is seen under the hood. There are some information that are gathered. First, it’s V8 5.0L engine that will be placed under the hood. This engine is able to generate 440 HP which will make the car as one of the strong muscle cars in the future.

Honestly, any power bump that still bows to the Camaro isn't worth it.

Any special model Mustang must trump the Camaro in power. It's not enough to just be a bit better than the GT (which also needs to do much better) and still get whooped by the comp.

If you're going to give the car some recognition, then make sure it has the substance to back it up. Otherwise you're just the guy who thought he was all tough in local high school football only to get smacked down in college.

The mustang isn't competing against itself. Let's see some improvement we can't be proud of -not just "my car has a cool name."

i really like the enthusiasm from everybody here, but with all the upgrades, do you really expect the mustang to remain at such a competetive price tag?

Lets just assume that the following is coming true, or at least most of it:
10-speed automatic
direct injection
front bumper
rear bumper
headlights
taillights
rear spoiler
hood
wheel options
quad exhaust
power increase
magnetic ride

i cannot image that those features will keep the mustang a well priced car.

Major body panel changes will require re-tooling in the factory, that takes a lit if time and I bet they are already working on that for 2020-2021. Betting the changs are minor as other have said, hood, bumpers, facia etc.

From what I have heard S650 hasn't fully kicked off yet in design.

Most panels are built of site and brought to the plant, often times in subassemlies. Then assembled at the plant. Tooling /fixturing isn't that big of a deal since the Mustang isn't common with anything else. I know on C-December and D-Enjoy segment vehicles Ford uses LPO Laser Pick Up units versus PLP Positive Locating Points (iirc) which allows them to easy build variants like focus and focus hatchback.

They will change things that doesn't really require any serious revalidation.
