I'd like a new dash/gauge set up..but not from the F150. My reasoning is that while very effective and functional..you know the Camaro folks will scream about how Ford copied it from them. Granted they're wrong, since it would have come from the F150, but it would still be a sticking point.

Pretty sure the Lincolns have digital displays.

See Lexus LFA, any current Ferarri etc. The LFA had to use a digital tach because the engine revs so fast there was no mechanical tach that could keep up with it.
Nah, they were just lazy and didn't want to create a mechanical buffer that did not overdamp the needle, so they stuck a third order Butterworth filter into the signal processing to create the digital output.

... I don't know, I guess it could have been a Chebyschev filter, if the ripple in the pass band wasn't bad. I'm just making that part up.

As far as I like digital screen, I don't like the whole screen being a huge screen.
I just sat in the 2016 Civic which has a big screen for RPM and speed and I don't like it because it does not have depth to it.
A better integration would be the one on the 6gen camaro.
Come to think of it the current design is not bad either. They can make it longer and having more functions. Right now it's pretty useless for the amount of things it does.

The Camaro's is actually copying the F-150's which was out a few years ago, which is what most likely the Mustang will get unless they go a new direction.

I don't like the whole digital thing also, sat in the S3 with the new virtual cockpit and it's ok, but I like having the combo of analog and digital.

Meh. Too glitzy.

Can't beat a decent analog setup, IMO.

One thing about our dash that should be improved on is the angle. The bottom is cut off from view unless I lean forward. I'm 6'3" and I should easily be able to see the whole dash cluster. I'd imagine shorter folks it's not so great for.

Thats true, the temp and fuel gauges are cut off depending on how you sit. I did not have this issue in my 2010.

A generic visibility issue with those hybrid IPs arises from pushing the analog tach and speedo further out from the centre to create room for that big flashy digital display. Because these 2 gauges are not as centred any more there's a bit more effort (and time) required to see them; and they are far more likely to be partially blocked by the sides of the steering wheel.

While I prefer analog, if they decide to go for a large display it should at least have an option for putting a (digital) tach front and centre (a position used in most sports cars, even the MX-5). This is especially important for MT drivers.

They will probably change the font of the gauges for the new model that's it. Maybe a different setup with PP2 or something.

I wonder if this could be backward compatible.

Delphi produces aftermarket gauges.

The Mustangs digital cockpit should be similiar to the new F-150 :)

But I would love to see a full digital cockpit without analogue gauges like Audi does. Especially using a fullscreen map for navigation with smaller gauges is pretty nice. Maybe for the 7th Gen...
At least this means we finally get a digital speedometer and navigation in the cockpit at all.

i'm sure it works with sync3 if it does exist which means prob not backward compatible with us sync2 owners.
