My dealer told me he isn't going to enroll in the 2018 GT350 program. He just told me that from from what he has seen with other performance models, the 3rd year the cars usually sit on the lots.
Not for Chevy, even the first year Z28's sat on the lot

That seems crazy to me. I know the third year probably wouldn't pull the ADM's but if they put +5k on them and sell them at msrp, I don't think they would have any problem selling every one they could get.

On a serious note, our beloved GT350 is becoming dated already! Paint does not count as an update. Guess I'll be getting more serious with my mods.
I see my 700 hp NA voodoo and sequential 3160 becoming A reality.

This is what he said...and I didn't say...please. although I did ask him if he could get an R then enroll. He said if he couldn't he would not enroll. He has a email into his rep to see the chances he has.

Well....I read that as the '18MY (Ecoboost/GT) will get a refresh, but the '18MY GT350 will carryover as is from the '17MY
Should we be getting excited in the UK is what I would like to know? ... it is christmas, so if we need a miracle from the baby Jesus now is the perfect time of year! :D

It will be interesting to see if the engine on the 2018 is identical in every way to the 2017. With all the threads and concerns around oil consumption and FUBAR'd engines any modifications or changes might acknowledge the presence of issues. If no changes are made its a pretty good indicator that the sample size is quite small for those with issues.

Glad to see the GT350 continuation is confirmed. I'd thought that it would be. A longer production run gives us better OEM and aftermarket parts support.

After reading through the thread, I don't see how the other Mustang trims will get a cosmetic update while the GT350 stays the same. I just don't believe it. If the GT350 isn't being updated then I don't believe that the other trims will be updated for the 2018 MY either. Even with only 1 year of production remaining the Boss 302 was updated in 2013 along with all the other trims.

JMO, we'll see.

The Boss 302 was mostly a GT. It had no bespoke body bits other than graphics and some fascia components. The GT350 has an entirely different front end. It's pretty easy to continue to produce GT350s even if the S550 gets a minor facelift as it's basically no different than production carries on today. The chassis won't change any for a facelift, just as it didn't change between '10-'12 and '13-'14 S197s.

The difference is, the entire front end, forward of the A pillars is unique.

why in god's name would you retool for 1 year of production of 5,000 cars max?

The answer is, you don't. The stamping dies for the "regular" mustang can be amortized 50x over what gt350 stampings could.

Plot Twist: 2018+ refresh is to make all Mustangs look like GT350's. And thus the GT350 stays the same for 2018.

You mean how the GT350 was produced from 1965 to 1970?

Before you go around trashing Ford for "dicking it up" maybe you should educate yourself on the history of the GT350.

In the first 2 years (65-66) there were no design changes so I consider those the originals much like the 16-17's.

I would agree with this. The next "refreshed" shelby will be a new model IMO (ie GT500). The GT350 is already unique enough that it doesnt need a refresh.

The other possibility is there simply isnt a 2018 refresh and we will see it in MY19 instead (along with the GT500). But with the ZL1 and hellcat out, it seems like Ford would be late to the party with a MY19 GT500

fiat/chrysler delayed the refreshof many models by at least a year as to not incur retooling costs so their books look healthier for investors.

The camaro is still ugly and impossible to see out of.

If I'm Ford, I let it ride for an extra year.
