Hi All my first post
Wondered if anyone else had this issue on 2018
Washed the car today did 40 mile drive a/c on as hot in Uk
Got home opened boot /trunk and carpeted floor was wet
So is it a leak from washing or a/c condensation
Was on right side
No evidence of drip
Will try hose on boot lid tomorrow

Bloody annoying

Cheers

I had his happen on a Kona I was almost about to buy. They washed it and on my inspection before I brought it, I found the trunk area behind the drivers side wet as can be. That, along with some door dings and gappped rear tail lights, made me turn the car down.

I made sure my Metallic didn’t have that those before finally signing on the dotted line.

I've not had that happen but did you pressure wash? I'd check the boot seals and make sure they are good and as well as the alignment.

I think AC condensation would have been uniform. I'm in Florida where it's hot and bloody humid 360 days out of the year and have not seen that happen.

I love all the Brit speak!

Think solved
The wire loom in boot folds back under seal when shut
Rubbish design and must leave gap for water to get in

I will hijack this thread because I had a trunk leak on a 2019 (droplet spray appearance on ground) luckily I have a husky liner that cups any liquid in the trunk so it was easy to see. It has not rained at all here since I got the car, except for the two spray washes I had conducted which I had already put the liner in. I then took a few buckets of water and poured it all over the window. So far it has not happened again as long as I manually take my hand to the side of the trunk and make sure the rear view camera wiring and wiring mesh cover completely enter the trunk away from the seal, by holding it away from seal while closing. It will not do that if I just close the trunk normally, I noticed the entire rear view cam mesh before the felt cover of the trunk liner was all wet while felt area was dry, so I also could see how it was being folded and staying outside the liner area of the trunk when closing, so once I watch the trunk close from right side, I took my hand to hold it away and it went in, I then poured more buckets of water down the rear window and watched all the water puddling and settling and running down the bottom of each tail light. The trunk did not seem to leak, I was also observing with the rear seat down and a flash light as the buckets of water were being poured, I could see that the rear cam wiring having some portion being folded past the seal may have been the culprit so far as the OP has stated, so we have to carefully watch the wiring and hold it when closing the trunk. I will continue to monitor it, but I for sure did see that seal was not complete due to rear cam wiring and mesh hanging out on the seal. It now survived another power washing with no water in the trunk.

See my original post
It’s the boot wire twisted under boot seal very annoying ford couldn’t resolve mine so have to check every time I shut
More annoying when boot full as no where for wire to go

I was able to finally bend it and re-form it with my hand to not get caught between the liner, and so far the wiring is now completely entering the trunk and clearing the rubber liner and not getting pinched anymore, so no more leak

exactly where is this located?
For those trunk leaks that relate to the rear camera wire, some came with the wiring kinda folding into the rubber seal when closing, instead of completely entering the trunk. here is an example of a good shape which will completely enter the trunk instead of pinching between the seal, Just close your trunk slowly and look on side and see if wire is fully clearing into the trunk or is about to get caught between the rubber seal and trunk when closing.

I discovered it when I felt the mesh getting very wet and dripping into trunk, then I could see how it was pinching... so I bent it a bit more straight and further away from the seal area and it now clears completely and no more leak

well, mine is fine not tangled and not binding on anything and the rear camera area, isn't leaking, checked the rear window gasket is fine, wondering if it's coming from the tail light mounting holes or the spoiler mounting holes? anybody have pics of the trunk gasket at the bottom of the trunk ? mine has 2 creases in it at the corners
