Just picked up my first mustang a few weeks ago and i’m finally getting to go through everything. updated sync & my main goal is trying to get the vehicle hotspot/ fordpass to work.
i read in another forum for an escape of someone having a similar cellular issue and they replaced the modem, but i am unsure as to what module that applies to on these.. as for fordpass my car is not receiving the activation signal and when i attempt to reset it in forscan it does not change off of “Authorized Mode” on the auth state. commanding restart of tcu module does reflect in live datalog however reset auth state to b1000/1,2,3 has no change to the module

It and the thread will show where the gear is in the trunk and bumper sections. Sometimes, Owners will physically disconnect items, to disable the service.

yeah, i checked the tcu and everything was connected there. antenna thing behind bumper is there too. my question would be where would people normally disconnect besides the fuse? i have a general lack of understanding of which modules control what.. i haven’t had time to see if the antenna is connected to the apim if applicable. i also have a round antenna not the shark fin style one if that makes a difference..

They'd typically disconnect where you were checking: back at the TCU and the splitter.

So if the fuse is in and the TCU and cables are connected, that's a good check.

Telematics is powered all the time. I'm thinking removing the fuse, then letting it rest for an hour or so. Then, re-install the fuse. Doing so should be akin to rebooting the logic involved in that system. Wouldn't hurt.

I haven't gone through the following thread, but it references both shark fin and gumdrop antennas:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...ark-fin-roof-antenna-and-what-they-do.146941/

I haven't t-shoot it before, but it's my understanding Telematics works through the two cellular antennas in the bumper section. The roof antenna would be for GPS, yes. And satellite radio.

Others will continue to see this thread today and offer some more feedback on what else to check.

Yeah. followed tcu to splitter didn’t go further than that, besides the antennas on bumper. i was hoping to get some insight before i go stripping the interior to check it out.. i may end up putting this idea on the back burner until i get my audio stuff ready. i considered following some of the instructions given by this form https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/for-sale-tcu-with-pigtail-and-antennas-add-fordpass.166246/ treating it like my car does not have a tcu/etc. looks like this way i won’t have to change out my antenna just a little bit more wiring work. i did pull the fuse and verified that the esn was gone, left it unplugged overnight and it yielded no change. got error code from resetting tcu to unconfig setting but the auth state is still authorized. very strange. may order tcu out of 18 explorer to try standalone refit. i will give the thread a read, thank you.

Sometimes the TCU gets stuck into thinking it's activated and no amount of resetting it through Sync changes anything.

You MUST alter one bit via Forscan, commit it, reset the module: it will go into unauthorized state. Then you can carry out the registration.

Happened on my mother's Focus and that's how I solved. Sorry I don't remember the bit, but hope it gives you a better way to search for the solution.

Anyway, I neutered all of my connected cars (included said Focus) because I don't want Big Brother watching.

precisely- i changed the data in forscan and got the CEL code for a unconfigured tcu, however the issue that i have is that the tcu does not reflect that change. it still stays in authorized state. makes zero sense, will put it on the back burner for now until i pull the interior apart for the sub install.
so i decide i dont want my insurance to find out about track day i just pull the fuse haha
